Moxibustion is one of the ancient external treatments. Its principle is to warm the Qi and blood, strengthen the body and eliminate evil, and regulate the functions of internal organs, so as to delay aging, strengthen the body, and reduce aging. Common female diseases such as dysmenorrhea and menstrual disorders can also be prevented and treated through moxibustion.

Moxibustion is used to treat dysmenorrhea, mainly for dysmenorrhea caused by women's organs without lesions. Before moxibustion, it is necessary to first clarify what causes dysmenorrhea, then find the acupoints and treat them symptomatically.

The method of moxibustion to treat dysmenorrhea is to select Zhongji point (one inch above the navel) and Guanyuan, Qihai, Sanyinjiao and other acupoints. When selecting the acupoints on the abdomen, you can lie on your back, place ginger slices about 3 mm on the acupoints on the abdomen, take a small amount of moxa and put it on the ginger slices, light it and then apply moxibustion. If you feel the temperature is too high, you can move the position slightly to avoid scalding the skin. For Sanyinjiao, you can use the suspended moxibustion method, starting a few days before the start of menstruation and continuing for several days after the menstruation stops. Each acupoint should be moxibustioned for 20 to 30 minutes.

If it is irregular menstruation, you can choose Sanyinjiao acupoint (3 inches above the inner ankle), Guanyuan acupoint, Qihai acupoint and Zusanli acupoint, and use suspended moxibustion with moxa sticks.
