8 things gynecologists want to tell women

Many female Weibo friends are often at a loss when seeing a gynecologist for fear of embarrassment, which not only affects the diagnosis results but also is not conducive to communication between doctors and patients. Today, gynecological experts from Changde Oriental Women's Hospital gave eight suggestions to female friends and provided advice to many women.

1. Don’t be shy about getting a gynecological examination

Experts say that a gynecological examination performed by a gynecologist on a patient is no different from an examination of other parts of the body, and women do not need to be shy. Getting checked out should be reassuring; as long as there is no pain or discomfort, there is nothing to worry about. When seeing a gynecologist, patients are often at a loss as to what to do for fear of embarrassment, which not only affects the diagnosis results but also hinders communication between doctors and patients.

2. Doctors do not judge patients’ private lives

Experts say that when gynecologists ask patients whether they have sex, they are not making any judgments about the patient's private life. If you have multiple sexual partners, it is best to get a uterine membrane test (usually once a year) and a chlamydia test every year.

3. Check Pap smears frequently

Experts say Pap smear tests are crucial in diagnosing diseases such as cervical cancer. The question is how often should you have a checkup? Therefore, you should tell your doctor truthfully about your physical condition, personal medical history, lifestyle, etc. The specific situation depends on the results of the most recent Pap smear test and personal medical history. Even if the test does not need to be done once a year, it does not mean that you can skip the annual physical examination.

4. Contraceptive measures all have side effects

There is no contraceptive method that is free of side effects. But for different women, one type of birth control may work best. Generally speaking, it takes at least 3 months of trial before you get used to it and know its effects. Also, although the chances of conceiving decrease with age, it is still possible before menopause. It is absolutely safe for women over 40 to use condoms for contraception.

5. Don’t choose caesarean section easily

Experts say that many women now choose cesarean section because they are afraid of body deformation. In fact, except for special indications for cesarean section, mothers should not choose cesarean section easily. If you choose to have a caesarean section for your first child, the risk of complications in subsequent births will be higher.

6. Low libido is rarely a hormone problem

Women's poor sexual desire is mostly closely related to lifestyle and emotional factors. Feeling physically and mentally exhausted after giving birth; problems in the relationship between husband and wife; feeling that the husband does not pay enough attention to oneself, etc., can all hurt women's sexual interest. In fact, many postmenopausal women have normal sexual desire and more satisfying sex lives. If you feel that low sexual desire is affecting your relationship, you may want to seek treatment.

7. Don’t be too nervous about changes in menstrual dates

Even the healthiest women can experience menstrual changes. When your gynecologist asks, "Is your period normal?", it's normal unless your period becomes unpredictable. Some women misunderstand "normal menstruation" as "menstruation comes on a specific day every month" or "menstrual blood changes in color." Experts say that if menstrual bleeding is excessive, cramps, pain, bloating and breast sensitivity occur during menstruation, and if the condition does not improve, it is best to see a doctor.

8. Pay attention to abnormal vaginal discharge

Two common gynecological diseases among women are yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis, but the symptoms and treatments of the two diseases are very different. But no matter what disease it is, women should seek medical attention when it occurs for the first time or when treatment is ineffective.
