What are the causes of toothache during menstruation?

Menstruation is a physiological function unique to women and requires special care. Try not to eat cold foods as described in traditional Chinese medicine during menstruation, as eating them will cause dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, etc. Also, avoid eating spicy and irritating foods, as eating them will cause heavy menstrual flow. You must pay attention to your diet during menstruation. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, eat a light diet, and eat less fatty and greasy foods.

Many women will experience a lot of discomfort during their menstrual period. The most common ones are abdominal pain and toothache during menstruation, which are more common in young women. They usually start to appear about a week before menstruation. The pain is transient and aggravated by cold or hot stimulation.

Toothaches during menstruation are caused by large changes in estrogen levels before and after menstruation. The ratio of progesterone to estrogen is easily unbalanced. Estrogen stimulates special receptors in the gingival tissue, causing blood vessels in the dental pulp and periodontal membrane to dilate, become congested, and swell, thereby compressing the pain nerve endings and inducing toothache.

Secondly, during menstruation, the pelvic cavity may also become congested or congested. As the blood flow to the uterus increases, it may reflexively cause periodontal blood circulation disorders and lead to headaches through neural and fluid regulation.

Toothache during menstruation generally does not require special treatment. You should pay attention to menstrual hygiene and rest, stay in a good mood, avoid mood swings, do not eat raw, cold, overheated, hard, rough and spicy food. When toothache is obvious, take oral vitamin B complex to relieve pain. In addition, two conditioning methods are recommended:

Treatment method: Foot massage

1. Upper and lower jaw: The reflex area is at the big toe joint on the instep of both feet. The upper jaw is above the joint and the lower jaw is below the joint. When massaging, press from the outside to the inside.

2. Upper body lymph glands: The reflex area is located on the inner side of both feet, above the ankle joints, and feels concave when touched by hand. Push from the outside to the inside.

Here I will teach you a small recipe for auxiliary treatment of toothache during menstruation. Rub the Hegu point connected to the thumb and index finger with ice, and press the ice on this area for five to seven minutes. This friction method can relieve pain by 50% and is suitable for use before menstruation. Massage of the Hegu point is also suitable for treating daily stomach pain and so on. Hegu point is a frequently used acupuncture point.
