Causes of low progesterone

Causes of low progesterone

Progesterone is a hormone that can only be secreted by the ovaries in the female body, but many women lack basic understanding of progesterone. Progesterone exists in the female body and it can regulate the female endocrine system. The female body is magical and can nurture a fetus. Progesterone is also extremely important to the fetus, but many women do not pay enough attention to progesterone.

Some women secrete less progesterone in their bodies, resulting in low progesterone. When progesterone is low, pregnancy may result in miscarriage. Therefore, women should pay attention to low progesterone in their bodies. So, what are the common reasons for low progesterone? Let's take a look.

Progesterone plays a very important role for women. Fertility and embryo development are related to progesterone. Progesterone helps stimulate changes in the uterus during the reproductive process and promotes embryonic development by increasing blood flow to the blood vessels and tissues of the reproductive system. After the egg is released from the ovary, it attaches to the uterus. In theory, the egg and sperm combine to form an embryo.

Progesterone is a hormone that delays the shedding of the uterine lining (where the embryo is implanted). If progesterone levels drop significantly during the first few weeks of pregnancy, it can cause miscarriage. However, for women who wish to delay pregnancy, high-dose progesterone injections can help prevent ovulation. Additionally, the sticky fluid it forms can prevent sperm from reaching the uterus and fallopian tubes.

Causes of low progesterone

1. When the corpus luteum is incomplete and the corpus luteum of the ovary is not fully developed, the progesterone content decreases accordingly.

2. Severe disorders of the adrenal glands and thyroid glands can also affect ovarian function, causing ovulation disorders and a corresponding decrease in progesterone levels.

3. The body develops insulin resistance.

If a woman's body lacks progesterone, it is not untreatable. We can supplement the progesterone in the body by taking it orally or injecting it. However, some women's physical constitutions are not suitable for taking or injecting progesterone drugs, and adverse reactions may occur. At this time, some small methods of dietary therapy should be adopted to supplement progesterone. For example, eating spinach can also supplement progesterone.
