What is considered normal menstruation? Does different menstrual cycles mean irregular menstruation? How to calculate the ovulation period if the menstruation is irregular? Does irregular menstruation affect pregnancy? How can you get pregnant with irregular menstruation? . . . . ?Questions like these are common on the Internet and consulting platforms. Today, I will answer these distressing and confusing questions for you from the perspective of reproductive medicine. After female puberty, under the action of gonadotropin from the anterior pituitary gland, the immature follicles gradually develop and mature and ovulate to form a corpus luteum. In this process, estrogen is synthesized, causing the endometrium to thicken. After ovulation, due to the combined effects of estrogen and progesterone, the endometrium becomes edematous and the glands produce a large amount of mucus and glycogen. If the egg and sperm combine to form a fertilized egg at this time and it is transported to the uterus through the fallopian tube for development, it is called pregnancy. The human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) produced after pregnancy supports the continued development of the corpus luteum of the ovary. If the egg is not fertilized, about 14 days after ovulation, estrogen and progesterone decrease, the endometrium necrose and falls off, causing bleeding and forming normal menstruation. The menstrual cycle depends on the length of time the egg develops, which is generally 28-30 days, which means that ovulation occurs once a month. In very rare cases, it can be three months or even half a year. The length of the cycle does not represent the ability to become pregnant. Whether or not ovulation occurs is the key to pregnancy. How can you get pregnant if your menstruation is irregular? For example, if your menstruation is about 35 days, you can start testing your urine every day with an ovulation test strip around the 19th day. If double bars appear, it means you have entered the ovulation period. You can arrange sexual intercourse to increase the chance of pregnancy. If no parallel bars are detected by the 28th day and your period is not delayed, you may not have ovulated. Then go to a reproductive center to find out the cause of your non-ovulation, which may help you get pregnant early. |
