If your period is short, you should pay attention to preventing anemia

The most common menstrual cycle for women is 28 days, and the 7 days before and after are considered within the normal range, which means that 21 to 35 days is the most common normal menstrual cycle. But for a few people, the cycle is as short as 20 days or as long as 45 days. As long as the menstruation is regular and there is no physical discomfort, it is normal. However, a menstrual cycle that is too short can easily cause anemia in women. This anemia caused by chronic blood loss is often combined with iron deficiency anemia. Girls, it is best to supplement more iron-rich foods after each menstrual period!

Data shows that women lose about 15.68 mg of iron during each menstrual cycle. Add to that the normal daily loss through the skin and urine, a total loss of 40.8 mg per month can easily lead to iron deficiency.

There are many sources of iron in food. Red meat, animal offal, egg yolks and aquatic products are all good sources of iron. The iron in animal foods is heme iron, which is easily absorbed and utilized by the human body. In terms of both quality and quantity, animal foods are superior to plant foods. Animal foods such as lean meat, pork liver, duck blood, egg yolk, fish, and breast milk are rich in iron. Among plant foods, seaweed, dried mushrooms, sesame seeds, peanuts, walnuts, spinach, dried mustard greens, dates, raisins, strawberries, hawthorns, etc. contain more iron. Adequate amounts of vitamin C in the diet can also promote iron absorption.

Iron supplementation should be appropriate, as excessive supplementation can easily cause poisoning. Healthy adults need 20 mg of iron per day for women and 15 mg for men, but the maximum daily limit should not exceed 50 mg.
