Excessive exercise can cause damage to women's private parts

Experts warn that women are most likely to injure their reproductive organs when performing straddling movements or exercises that increase abdominal pressure, so they should be especially careful when choosing sports during menstruation and the postpartum period. Hymen injury is the most common and best-known sports injury to the female private parts. However, improper exercise may not only cause damage to the hymen, but may also cause serious consequences for women, such as menstrual abnormalities, uterine prolapse, and even abnormal ovarian cyst rupture. The following are some common sports injuries summarized by experts for women:

Improper exercise can easily lead to five major injuries

Vulvar trauma

Experts say that hymen injury is the most common sports injury to the female reproductive organs. Generally speaking, postures that require the legs to be split apart, such as the straight step and the straddle movement, are the "culprits" that cause this kind of injury. "Among them, the mucous membrane tissue of young girls is relatively fragile, so they should be especially careful when doing sports such as cycling, parallel bars, and certain yoga movements."

In addition, sports such as cycling and parallel bars may also cause hematomas in the female vulva. Because the skin of the vulva is delicate and rich in blood vessels, if you are not careful during activities, such as the vulva collides with a bicycle seat, crossbar or other blunt objects, even if there is no wound on the surface, the blood vessels will rupture and cause subcutaneous bleeding to accumulate in the loose tissue, which can easily cause vulvar hematoma. In severe cases, the urethra, vagina and even the pelvic cavity may be damaged.

Sports amenorrhea

Among teenage girls who exercise a lot, a considerable proportion experience abnormal phenomena such as delayed menarche, irregular periods, and exercise-induced amenorrhea. The greater the amount of exercise, the later the age of menarche. Because intense exercise can inhibit the function of the hypothalamus, causing endocrine system dysfunction and affecting the normal level of sex hormones in the body, thereby interfering with the formation and cycle of normal menstruation. This type of menstrual abnormality usually occurs in athletes, but it may also occur in ordinary people if they exercise excessively to lose weight.

Ruptured ovarian cyst

It is reported that the size of a normal ovary is about the same as that of a lychee, and the impact during general exercise is not likely to cause ovarian rupture. However, if there is an abnormal cyst on the ovary, because the cyst contains fluid and the outer wall tissue is thin and fragile, it may rupture under strenuous activities, lifting heavy objects, abdominal compression or collision. At this time, women will suddenly feel pain in the lower abdomen. If the bleeding is severe, the pain will spread to the entire abdominal cavity.

Endometriosis

At present, the medical community has not yet reached a consensus on the cause of endometriosis. However, it has been found that the proportion of patients with endometriosis who have congenital reproductive organ malformations and retrograde menstruation is higher than that of the general population. Therefore, it is believed that retrograde menstruation and endometriosis have a certain relationship. If women engage in strenuous exercise during their menstrual period, it is also possible that menstrual blood may flow back from the uterine cavity into the pelvic cavity. The endometrial debris flowing with the menstrual blood may be implanted on the ovaries, causing endometriosis. Patients often experience dysmenorrhea, secondary amenorrhea, and severe cases may even lead to infertility.

Uterine prolapse

When women do excessive exercise, especially weightlifting and other training, abdominal pressure will increase, causing the position of the uterus to temporarily drop, but uterine prolapse will not occur. However, if you over-exercise for a long time, uterine prolapse may occur. Experiments have shown that when women with a normally positioned uterus carry a 20kg weight, the position of their cervix does not change significantly; when they carry a 40kg weight, the cervix shifts significantly downward.

In addition, for women who have just given birth, the pelvic floor muscles are still in a state of congestion and relaxation during the postpartum period. If they are eager to lose weight during this period and frequently perform exercises that increase abdominal pressure, the uterus may move downward and prolapse.
