What causes itching and pain at the vaginal opening?

Some women often have such confusion. They usually pay great attention to the hygiene of their vulva and have not had any unclean sexual intercourse. Why do they always have itching at the vaginal opening? The itching makes people feel extremely uncomfortable, but because it is a private disease, they are ashamed to see a doctor, and as a result, the condition becomes more and more serious. If vaginal itching occurs, be sure to seek timely treatment, because this reminds women that you are sick.

1. Vaginal trichomoniasis:

Itching of the vulva and vagina, foamy leucorrhea, often accompanied by a special odor, and scratching also causes eczematous changes in the vulva dermatitis. Vaginal smear examination can be distinguished from the above diseases

2. Fungal vaginitis:

Itching of the vulva and vagina, flushing of the vulva, and leucorrhea resembling bean curd residue with an odor. Scratching may cause eczematous changes of the vulva dermatitis.

3. Sexual allergy:

This is an allergic reaction that occurs during sexual intercourse. There are people who are allergic to semen, condoms, and friction.

4. Drug allergy:

"Fixed drug rash" caused by sulfonamides or other drugs in women with allergic constitution often occurs at the junction of the skin and mucous membrane of the vulva. In addition to local itching, it may be complicated by erosion and exudation. Vulvar itching may also occur if allergic reactions and contact dermatitis occur when using drugs for vaginal washing or vaginal insertion.

5. Genital skin diseases:

The skin lesions of tinea cruris often extend to the vulva, causing severe local itching. The local itching caused by vulvar eczema and neurodermatitis is more severe. The former is manifested as papules and blisters with unclear local skin boundaries and erosion exudate, while the latter often causes thickening of the skin with lichenification due to scratching. In addition to causing local itching, leukoplakia of the vulva is often accompanied by vulvar malnutrition and skin atrophy.

It can be seen from this that a variety of diseases may cause symptoms of itching at the vaginal opening. Therefore, after vaginal itching occurs, you must pay attention to seek medical attention in time. Do not hide the disease and avoid seeing a doctor, which will make the condition more serious and more difficult to treat. Usually you should also pay attention to the hygiene and cleanliness of the vulva, which can reduce the occurrence of vulvar itching symptoms.
