Normal estradiol levels

Normal estradiol levels

Speaking of estradiol, I believe many friends don’t know much about it. In fact, estradiol is one of the important hormones in the female body. It is also a natural estrogen secreted by the follicles after the ovaries mature. Estrogen can promote and regulate the normal development of female reproductive organs and secondary sexual characteristics. In short, estradiol will always accompany women throughout their lives. So what is the normal level of estradiol?

If a woman's estradiol level is too low or too high, it can be very harmful to her health. In addition to causing endometrial shedding, it can even lead to infertility, so abnormal estradiol levels require timely medical attention and treatment. So what is the normal level of estradiol?

Normal estradiol levels

For women before puberty, 0-121pmol/L; for women during the follicular phase, 37-330pmol/L; for women during the ovulatory phase, 367-1835pmol/L; for women during the luteal phase, 184-881pmol/L; for men before puberty, 0-148pmol/L; for adults, 0-942pmol/L.

Increased: seen in feminization of children, estrogen-producing tumors, gynecomastia, decompensated cirrhosis, adrenal hyperplasia,

Decreased: seen in Turner syndrome, primary and secondary hypofunction.

What does estradiol do?

1. As one of the sex hormones, estradiol can cause the thinning of the endometrium and less menstrual flow if its value is too low. It can also affect the development of follicles, thus affecting conception. Estradiol is an essential ovarian hormone that stimulates the glands in the cervix to secrete a special mucus ("mucus with fertility characteristics") that is very important for sperm to pass through the cervix and reach the egg.

2. Estradiol also stimulates the growth of the endometrium. Progesterone prepares the endometrium, which has been stimulated to grow by estradiol, for the fertilized egg to implant. When there is no pregnancy, the production of estradiol and progesterone begins to decline about 7 days after ovulation, causing the endometrium to fall off 11-16 days after ovulation, resulting in menstrual bleeding.

3. If you have not given birth to a child yet but want to have a baby, you should regulate your body if your estradiol level is low. Go to a regular professional hospital for examination and diagnosis, and let the doctor develop a regulation plan based on your actual situation.

Regarding the normal value of estradiol, generally speaking, women's estradiol values are different in the four stages of puberty, follicular phase, ovulation phase, and luteal phase. Estradiol is an essential ovarian hormone for the human body. It not only promotes the growth of the endometrium, but also helps the normal combination of sperm and eggs. Therefore, if estradiol is low, you should seek medical attention and treatment in time.
