What is artificial insemination

Pregnancy can be divided into two important modes: natural pregnancy and artificial insemination. Natural pregnancy mainly refers to women conceiving through sexual intercourse, while artificial insemination refers to a pregnancy mode that uses artificial reproductive technology to achieve the purpose of conception. Generally speaking, artificial insemination mainly involves many processes. What exactly is artificial insemination? Let’s take a look at the following introduction.

First of all, what is artificial insemination? We must understand that it is the situation of a woman who has undergone artificial insemination and is pregnant. These all require a good gynecological examination, to check whether the internal and external genitals are normal, whether the endometrial biopsy gland secretions are very good, and whether the bilateral fallopian tubes are very unobstructed. If all is normal, then the conditions for artificial insemination are met.

Then you need to estimate the day of ovulation to choose the best time for insemination. Commonly used methods for estimating the ovulation date include measuring basal body temperature, cervical mucus (usually appears 4-5 days before ovulation), or continuously measuring the peak level of urinary luteinizing hormone close to the ovulation day, or continuous vaginal ultrasound examinations.

Before the woman's estimated ovulation period, the sperm donor or husband will perform vaginal extraction of semen, which needs to be tested. If the results show that the sperm density and motility are normal, the semen will be liquefied and then injected into the vagina, around the cervix and into the cervical canal with a syringe or catheter. The woman should rest in bed for 2-3 hours to prevent the ejaculation of semen.

Each woman can undergo artificial insemination three times in a menstrual cycle, starting three days before ovulation. If calculated by hours, it means once 72 hours, 24 hours before ovulation, and 24 hours after ovulation. If conception fails in one menstrual cycle, several cycles can be performed in succession. If necessary, drugs can be used to induce ovulation and adjust the ovulation period to increase the pregnancy rate. The success or failure of artificial insemination is generally determined by 12 cycles.

If we want to do artificial insemination, the success rate of artificial insemination is generally maintained at about 20%. The sperm donor generally needs to abstain from sex for three to five days. At the same time, there are also many things to pay attention to in artificial insemination. We just need to pay attention to it.
