Larger uterine polyps may cause increased vaginal discharge, or complain of contact bleeding, especially spotting or bloody vaginal discharge after sexual intercourse or bowel movements. The amount of bleeding is generally not much. The roots of uterine polyps are mostly attached to the cervical canal or the external opening of the cervix. They are generally small, with a diameter of less than 1 cm, and can be single or multiple. There are also larger ones, which can reach several centimeters in diameter and have a pedicle that protrudes outside the cervical os as it grows. If the uterine polyps are small, they will remain in the cervical canal and only appear slightly at the cervical opening. Multiple uterine polyps often have relatively short pedicles and are clustered at the cervical opening. Polyps vary in size, with the smallest being only a few millimeters in diameter and the largest being several centimeters.

Uterine polyps located at the cervical opening will block some semen from entering the uterine cavity, which will inevitably reduce the amount of sperm and lower the pregnancy rate. Uterine polyps can also cause the mucus at the cervical opening to form a mucus plug, thereby hindering sperm from entering the uterine cavity. Therefore, female friends should treat uterine polyps in time.
