The Spring Festival is approaching. How can patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases celebrate the New Year in a healthy way? Get this "treasure guide" now

We bid farewell to the old year with joy and welcome the new year with excitement. In this festive and auspicious festival, patients with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases should never forget to take control of their own health and ensure that no abnormalities occur.

How to spend the New Year in a safe, peaceful and happy way? Professor Yu Zhengke, a national senior expert in traditional Chinese medicine, a famous Chinese medicine doctor in Hunan Province, and a cardiovascular expert at the Hunan Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (Affiliated Hospital of Hunan Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine), gives you some tips.

1. Don’t be hesitant to take medicine during the holidays

In the past, according to traditional festival customs, people were not allowed to take medicine on New Year's Eve and the first day of the new year. For patients with hypertension, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, or diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, it is important to keep blood pressure stable, avoid stroke, avoid angina pectoris, ensure normal blood sugar and avoid cough and asthma, and take medicine on time and in the right amount as usual, which is the main part of ensuring their health.

2. Proper diet

As always, control your weight. It is recommended to reduce the intake of saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol, such as animal offal and fried foods. Control salt intake, and do not exceed 6 grams per day. Quit smoking and limit alcohol. Even if you drink, men should not consume more than 25 grams of alcohol per day, and women should not consume more than 15 grams per day. Avoid gatherings with friends and family, and forget about the precautions.

3. Avoid excessive emotional fluctuations

Anger, joy, worry, thought, sadness, fear, and shock, once excessive, can easily damage the five internal organs, with the heart and liver being the first to be affected. Do not argue, do not be overjoyed, speak calmly, and do not overthink. At the same time, improve your ability to withstand stress, maintain a good attitude, and face life positively and optimistically.

4. Don’t forget to exercise

Cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease, chronic heart failure or diabetes, varicose veins in the lower limbs, and sequelae of cerebral infarction, should adhere to regular aerobic exercise. Maintaining a healthy weight is the key to preventing cardiovascular diseases. Do not stay still for several hours. You can do Ba Duan Jin, Tai Chi, brisk walking, and cycling, which are all good ways of exercise. Persistence can improve disease symptoms, improve quality of life, improve disease prognosis, and accelerate physical recovery.

5. Maintain a regular work and rest schedule

Do not stay up late, do not sleep in, and have a regular daily routine. Avoid sleeping disorders, which will disrupt your own biological clock and cause sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve dysfunction. Otherwise, you will suffer from vascular spasm, arrhythmia, insomnia and forgetfulness.

6. Keep medicines at hand

During the Spring Festival holiday, when visiting relatives and friends, going out to play, or participating in group entertainment activities, you must not forget to bring your regular medicines with you, such as antihypertensive drugs, lipid-lowering drugs, anti-thrombotic drugs, hypoglycemic drugs, and uric acid-lowering drugs. You should also have emergency medicines such as Musk Heart Pills, Danshen Pills, nitroglycerin, and Enalapril on hand in case of emergency.

7. Go to hospital for emergency

No matter what time it is, if you encounter an emergency or a chronic disease worsens, do not delay or hesitate, first send the patient to the nearest hospital, or call 120, race against time, time is life, general hospitals, especially those above level 2, are open for emergency and hospitalization. All hospitals, big and small, are open on holidays, and the concept of "people's health as the center" has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the angels in white.

8. Seek medical help in case of emergency

If you have abnormal physical conditions due to abnormal climate, improper diet, or imbalance of temperature, even if it is not urgent, you can call your regular doctor, send a WeChat message, or communicate with the doctor on the Internet. Children can help the elderly at home use smart methods, and they will definitely get help from medical staff.

9. Do not abuse drugs

Everyone's conditions are different and their physical endowments are different. The medicines that others are using may not be suitable for you. You must ask your doctor to make a diagnosis before prescribing medicine. Do not use health care products indiscriminately, as they often have the opposite effect. Do not use ineffective medicines.

10. Climate Change to Prevent Infection

During the Spring Festival, it is the coldest time of the year, viruses breed quickly, and people move around a lot and come into contact with each other frequently, which can easily lead to bacterial and viral infections. First, pay attention to keeping warm, and second, wear masks in crowded places. Third, enhance your immunity in a variety of ways, so that "righteousness is within, and evil cannot enter."
