On December 26, 2024, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention issued the "Technical Plan for the Implementation of Adjustments to the National Immunization Program Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis Vaccine Immunization Program". The plan details the specific implementation requirements after the adjustment, how to vaccinate, how to boost the vaccination, all you want to know is here. What is the adjusted immunization schedule? From January 1, 2025, children of appropriate age will be vaccinated according to the adjusted immunization schedule, that is, one dose of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine each at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 18 months and 6 years old. Do I need to get the diphtheria-pertussis vaccine again? The diphtheria-pertussis vaccine is no longer used for children aged 6 years old, but only for children aged 7 to 11 years old. Vaccination strategies for different birth groups? Children born on November 1, 2024, who have just turned 2 months old or are gradually approaching 2 months old, will be vaccinated with DTP vaccine according to the new procedure for a total of 5 times from the date of implementation of the adjustment. Children born after January 1, 2019, who have just turned 6 years old or are gradually approaching 6 years old, will be vaccinated with DTP vaccine once, and will no longer be vaccinated with DTP vaccine. Children born between January 1 and December 31, 2018 and under 7 years old, if they have not received DTP vaccine at the age of 6 years old, will receive 1 dose of DTP vaccine at the age of 6 years old. If they have received DTP vaccine, they will no longer be vaccinated with DTP vaccine. Children who have reached 7 years old since January 1, 2025 (i.e. children born before January 1, 2018), if they have not completed DTP or DTP vaccination according to the procedure, will no longer be vaccinated with DTP vaccine, and can refer to the "National Immunization Program Vaccine Child Immunization Program and Instructions (2021 Edition)" for DTP vaccine suspension. What should I do if I have not completed the full course of DPT vaccination according to the procedure? Children aged 2 months to 6 years old should receive the DPT vaccine as soon as possible to make up for the missed doses. After the missed doses are made up, the subsequent immunization doses should be given as much as possible according to the recommended age of the immunization program, provided that the minimum interval for the make-up is met. Children aged 7 to 11 years old should receive the DPT vaccine for make-up. Can the diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccines currently in use be vaccinated according to the new schedule? The adsorbed acellular diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus combined vaccines currently approved for marketing are all suitable for the adjusted immunization schedule. Can I choose non-immunisation program vaccination? If children of appropriate age are vaccinated with non-immunisation program vaccines containing pertussis components according to the vaccine instructions, it can be regarded as completing the corresponding doses of DTP vaccination. Vaccination is one of the most economical and effective means of preventing and controlling infectious diseases. The DTP vaccine is a combined vaccine that can prevent whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus. Parents and friends are requested to actively cooperate with the vaccination policy and build a solid health barrier for children. |
