In order to thoroughly implement the Notice on Comprehensive Prevention and Control of Myopia in Children and Adolescents jointly issued by the Ministry of Education and other eight departments, and implement the student health examination system and the vision monitoring system twice per semester, autumn campus vision screening work has been carried out in various places. How do parents read the screening report after receiving it? Do they need to recheck it? How to strengthen the prevention and control of myopia in children? What are the campus screening items? According to the requirements of the Ministry of Education and the National Health Commission, the screening items mainly cover the naked eye vision of the left and right eyes, and the refractive power (spherical power, cylindrical power) of the left and right eyes. The main purpose is to quickly identify problems such as hyperopia, myopia and refractive error, so that parents can intervene in time and take corrective measures. Why is it recommended to go to the hospital for a follow-up examination? The school's initial screening is only a preliminary assessment of vision. Since the eye's ability to adjust may affect the screening results, its accuracy is limited. The hospital's reexamination is a comprehensive and in-depth examination and assessment of the eye's refractive state. It involves multiple indicators such as eye examination, refractive state, dominant eye, adjustment power, visual function, etc., and can provide more scientific and comprehensive optometry results. Why might the two results be different? Because the eyeballs of adolescents are still in the development stage, their ability to adjust is strong. When the eyes are overused, the ciliary muscles may continue to contract and spasm, leading to accommodative myopia (also known as pseudomyopia), which in turn causes blurred vision. In order to accurately determine whether a child has true myopia or accommodative myopia, it is necessary to test information such as the axial length of the eye. Therefore, some children who are diagnosed with myopia during school screening may find that it is only a temporary vision problem after a review by a medical institution. Parents should pay attention to their children's vision health Parents should understand the knowledge of scientific eye care, set an example, and help their children develop good eye habits. They should take their children for regular vision tests, 1-2 times every six months, and establish a refractive file. Always pay attention to signs of abnormal vision in your child. If you find that your child needs to sit in the front row of the classroom to see the blackboard clearly, sits close to the screen when watching TV, complains of headaches or eyestrain, or rubs his eyes frequently, take him to a qualified medical institution for examination in a timely manner for scientific intervention and myopia correction. Medical knowledge is for reference only and is not used as a basis for diagnosis |
