How to prevent atherosclerosis

How to prevent atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis is not a serious disease, but it is very common, and its incidence increases significantly with age.

How to prevent it? There are primary prevention and secondary prevention. Primary prevention refers to changing lifestyle habits, such as low-salt and low-fat diet, increasing exercise, etc. Secondary prevention refers to the use of drugs such as aspirin and atorvastatin.

※一※ Primary prevention: quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption, maintain a regular work and rest schedule, be in a good mood, avoid overwork and emotional excitement, actively exercise, and lose weight; in terms of diet, reduce the following intake:

1. High-fat foods include fried chicken fillets, French fries, fatty meat, etc. Eating a large amount of high-fat foods can easily cause fat to accumulate in the blood vessel walls, leading to worsening of vascular sclerosis.

2. High-cholesterol foods generally include animal offal, barbecue, egg yolks, etc. They contain relatively high cholesterol. If consumed in large quantities, they can easily deposit in blood vessels, causing worsening of vascular sclerosis.

3. High-salt foods generally include pickles, soy sauce, salted fish, etc. They have relatively high salt content and also contain relatively high fat. Eating them in large quantities can easily lead to high blood pressure and increase the risk of arteriosclerosis.

※Secondary prevention: mainly refers to drug treatment, actively controlling risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hyperhomocysteinemia. If blood pressure, blood sugar, blood lipids and other indicators are still not up to standard through changing lifestyle habits, controlling diet, and strengthening exercise, it is recommended that patients take aspirin, atorvastatin, and other blood pressure and blood sugar lowering drugs under the guidance of a doctor to control the indicators.

✨It is recommended that patients eat a light and easily digestible diet

Eat more fresh vegetables: bitter gourd, celery, cassia seed, onion, fungus, garlic, corn, kelp, etc.

Fruits: spinach, apples, bananas, hawthorns, oranges, etc.

High-fiber foods such as wheat, oats, etc.

Appropriately increase the intake of high-protein substances such as marine fish, shrimp, milk, soybeans and soy products.

Avoid spicy foods.
