What medicine should pregnant women use for vaginitis

What medicine should pregnant women use for vaginitis

During pregnancy, the hormone levels in the body undergo extensive changes, so this will inevitably bring about a variety of changes to pregnant women. The acidity and alkalinity inside the vagina will also lead to some gynecological inflammations. So what medicine should be used for vaginitis in pregnant women?

If you suffer from vaginitis during pregnancy, you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment to determine the type of vaginitis you have and receive targeted treatment. It should be noted that the treatment in the early, middle and late pregnancy is different. Generally, no treatment is required in the first three months of pregnancy. If the condition is more serious, the doctor will use medication as appropriate to ensure that it does not cause infection to the fetus. Since oral medications have the risk of causing teratogenicity to the fetus, local treatment is generally adopted. It is best to first choose some Chinese herbal lotions to improve the itching symptoms. If the infection is more serious, you can perform vaginal scrubbing and then apply suppositories locally in the vagina. However, these processes must be completed by the hospital's obstetrics and gynecology nurses to avoid adverse effects of the drugs on the fetus.

In addition to the doctor's treatment, if the expectant mother feels that the itching caused by external factors is unbearable, she should not scratch it or scrub it directly with hot water. Instead, she should apply local wet compresses with lotion and change underwear frequently. Vaginal fungi are afraid of high temperatures. Pregnant mothers can soak their changed underwear in hot water above 60℃ every day to achieve better disinfection effect.

In short, if you are infected with vaginitis during pregnancy, do not take medicine on your own. You must follow the doctor's advice and seek medical treatment in time. You should also pay attention to your daily hygiene, protect the vaginal area, and reduce the chance of bacterial infection.
