What is it like to have hemorrhoids? Only those who have experienced it will understand.

Hemorrhoids are mainly divided into internal hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids, and mixed hemorrhoids. There is a line between our rectum and anal canal called the dentate line. Hemorrhoids that occur near the rectal mucosa above the dentate line are called internal hemorrhoids, and internal hemorrhoids are caused by the tortuosity of the superior hemorrhoidal veins. Hemorrhoids that occur below the dentate line are called external hemorrhoids, and external hemorrhoids are caused by the tortuosity and dilatation of the inferior hemorrhoidal veins. If the hemorrhoids have crossed the dentate line, and there are both above and below the dentate line, we call them mixed hemorrhoids. Mixed hemorrhoids do not mean that there are both external hemorrhoids and internal hemorrhoids, but that after the superior hemorrhoidal vein and the inferior hemorrhoidal vein are integrated, the hemorrhoids grow in the area where the dentate line crosses, which is called a mixed hemorrhoid.

In daily care, patients with hemorrhoids should pay special attention to reducing the time spent in the toilet and avoid using mobile phones and other electronic devices in the toilet to prevent prolonged sitting from aggravating hemorrhoid symptoms. The ideal bowel movement time should be controlled within 5 to 10 minutes to avoid increasing the risk of hemorrhoids. Avoid excessive force when defecating to reduce the sudden increase in abdominal pressure, thereby reducing the onset of hemorrhoids.

Secondly, the correct wiping method is also very important for hemorrhoid patients. Many hemorrhoids are caused by incorrect methods of wiping the buttocks. How can hemorrhoid patients wipe their buttocks correctly?

There is a three-word trick for wiping:

The first word is dip. Press the folded paper towel gently around the anus to absorb the remaining feces.

The second is to wipe, use a clean tissue to gently wipe from front to back. Girls should use the front to back method due to their body structure, and avoid using excessive force which may cause hemorrhoid bleeding.

The third is kneading. If the hemorrhoids prolapse, you should gently rotate and knead them to help the hemorrhoids return to the anus. Timely return can help relieve the symptoms of internal hemorrhoids.

At the same time, post-defecation hygiene is also very important. Simply wiping may not be able to clean thoroughly, and the residue may cause inflammation and irritation, or even secondary infection. Therefore, using warm water to clean the anal area is an effective preventive measure. In particular, using warm water of about 40 degrees for a sitz bath not only cleans thoroughly, but also effectively prevents hemorrhoids.

If you are a young person with hemorrhoids, you should pay attention to the care measures in your daily life, including the correct wiping techniques and personal hygiene habits. Through these simple methods, you can effectively reduce the symptoms of hemorrhoids and prevent the occurrence and recurrence of hemorrhoids. Correct bowel habits and personal hygiene are essential to maintaining anorectal health.
