Young people should stop eating and drinking too much, be careful of eye diseases!

Many young people think that fundus diseases mainly affect middle-aged and elderly people, so it is impossible for them to have them. However, once they arrive at the hospital, they are diagnosed with retinal detachment, macular hemorrhage, macular hole, etc.

Why is the incidence of fundus disease so high among young people? With the rapid development of society, many elderly eye diseases are also following the trend of younger people. Fundus disease is a very harmful eye disease, which can cause blindness in severe cases.

Nowadays , many young people suffer from eye diseases. What is the cause of this?

1. The number of young people with diabetes is increasing

It is very important for young diabetic patients to have fundus examination. Diabetic retinopathy is a slow process. Once obvious symptoms appear, it means that the complications have existed for a certain period of time. Generally speaking, patients with type 1 diabetes should be examined once a year after 5 years of onset, and patients with type 2 diabetes should be examined once a year from the onset of the disease.

Tianjin University Aier Eye Hospital kindly reminds you that if you experience symptoms such as blurred vision, decreased vision, poor night vision, floating block shadows in front of the eyes, and reduced visual field of both eyes , it means that you may have diabetic retinopathy. You should see a doctor as soon as possible to shorten the time of ophthalmological follow-up and avoid serious damage to your vision.

In addition, if young diabetic patients can effectively control blood pressure and lower blood lipids, they can also delay the occurrence of fundus lesions. At the same time, they should not use busy work as an excuse and try to cooperate with doctors in standardized blood sugar-lowering treatments.

2. Unreasonable eating habits

Young people are under great pressure in life and work, and often eat fast food, high-fat and high-sugar foods. Their unreasonable eating habits and irregular lifestyles such as staying up late lead to fluctuations in blood sugar and blood lipids, and relatively unstable blood pressure. If this continues for a long time, it can easily cause changes in the fundus microenvironment, damage to the eye's microvessels, resulting in ruptured bleeding, vitreous hemorrhage, and ultimately intraocular fibrosis and tractional retinal detachment.

3. Excessive use of eyes

Nowadays, young people are almost inseparable from computers and mobile phones, whether they are at work or at home. They are prone to overuse their eyes. If they are in a state of fatigue for a long time, it may cause spasm and contraction of blood vessels in the fundus, causing temporary or even permanent visual impairment. The early symptoms of retinopathy are not obvious, so people often take the disease lightly, allowing fundus lesions to take advantage of the situation and threaten young people.

How to protect eye health?

1. Maintain a good working posture

Maintain a proper posture with your eyes looking level or slightly downward at the screen. This will relax the neck muscles and reduce the area of the eyeballs exposed to the air.

2. Adjust the distance and position of the fluorescent screen

The recommended distance is 50-70 cm, and the screen should be slightly lower than the eye level by 10-20 cm, with a downward viewing angle of 15-20 degrees. This is because the angle and distance can reduce the demand on the eyes and reduce the chance of eye fatigue.

3. Pay attention to rest and don’t overuse your eyes

Avoid staring at your eyes and pay attention to blinking frequently and completely. Frequent blinking can reduce the time your eyes are exposed to the air and prevent tears from evaporating.
