In early spring, the weather is chilly and the natural world is in a transitional period of yin retreating and yang growing, cold going away and heat coming. As the saying goes, "Don't take off your cotton clothes in February, there will still be pear blossoms and snow in March." At this time, the yang energy is gradually growing, but the cold has not completely retreated. There are often climate changes of "late spring cold." It is still very important to keep warm in this season. If you are not careful when the cold and hot alternate, the cold will take advantage of the opportunity to enter. If you take off your thick clothes too early, your body will be easily invaded by wind and cold evil spirits. During this period of time, you should "cover up" appropriately. We can "cover up" various parts of our body to achieve the purpose of stabilizing the yang energy and strengthening the body to avoid some high-incidence diseases in spring, such as colds, asthma, indigestion, joint pain and other diseases that harm the body.

Spring cover parts

"Spring cover" not only conforms to the growth of Yang Qi, but is also a good health care recipe for preventing diseases. In their long-term life and labor practice, the ancients realized that "cold starts from the feet". First of all, the most important thing is to cover the lower body , because the blood circulation in the lower part of the human body is worse than that in the upper part. Therefore, traditional health care advocates that spring clothes should be "thick at the bottom and thin at the top". "Lao Lao Heng Yan" says: "Spring frost has not yet melted, the lower body is better to be too warm, and the upper body can be slightly reduced." This can nourish Yang and collect Yin, and is in harmony with the natural spring climate change; the second is to cover the head , the head is the "meeting place of all Yang", it is the easiest to dissipate heat, causing heat to be lost quickly, and it is the easiest to catch a cold; the third is to cover the back . In the theory of the five elements, the back is the yang among the yang, and the wind and cold evil can easily invade the human body through the back Governor Vessel, and the back is adjacent to the heart and lungs, so its heat preservation is particularly important; and the other is to cover the abdomen . Neiguan Point

Nei Guan is a collateral point of the pericardium meridian and is connected to the Yin Wei meridian, which connects to all the yin meridians. Therefore, this point can regulate the functions of the heart, liver, kidney and other internal organs. It has the functions of tranquilizing the mind, harmonizing the stomach and relieving adverse reactions, regulating qi and relieving pain. In early spring, the yang energy gradually rises, the pores dilate, and it is easy to be affected by wind and cold evil energy, which causes poor circulation of qi and blood, and qi blockage. "Blockage causes pain", so keeping the Nei Guan point warm can play a role in preventive health care.

Neiguan acupoint is located on the palm side of the forearm, 2 inches above the transverse wrist crease, between the palmaris longus tendon and the radial flexor carpi tendon.

You can press the Neiguan point with the tip of your thumb at any time, and rotate and massage the point for 2-3 minutes until you feel soreness, numbness, and swelling in the part of the point. Do this 1-2 times a day to regulate the Qi of your whole body.

Fengchi Point

There is an old saying that "even gods are afraid of wind behind the head". This shows that in the windy spring, we must keep the head and neck warm. Wind is a yang evil, and its nature is light and rising. Only wind can reach the top of the head. Fengchi acupoint is located in the sunken part of the hairline behind the temple, where wind evil accumulates and is easily invaded by wind and cold. Therefore, we should cover Fengchi acupoint well in "spring cover". When the temperature drops, we should wear a hat or scarf when going out to effectively avoid the cold and keep warm and block the invasion of wind and cold.

Fengchi point is located on the neck, below the occipital bone, at the same level as Fengfu point, in the depression between the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the upper end of the trapezius muscle.

You can use the thumbs of both hands to repeatedly massage the Fengchi point 30 times with appropriate force, 1-2 times a day, which can warm the meridians and dispel wind, open the orifices and activate the collaterals, and clear the head.

Shenque Point

Shenque acupoint, also known as the navel, is often treated with moxibustion in traditional Chinese medicine. It can warm the yang, dispel cold and dampness, and clear away dampness and heat. It can be used to treat diarrhea, abdominal pain, stomach cold and vomiting. Regular warming treatment of Shenque acupoint can make people full of positive energy, full of spirit, strong waist muscles, abundant physical strength, light body and longevity.

You can rub your hands together to warm them up, place them on top of your navel, and gently press the Shenque point clockwise for about 5 minutes each time. Then keep your hands on the point for 1 minute to transfer the heat from your hands to the Shenque point to warm you up and drive away the cold. Do this 1-2 times a day.

Mingmen Point

Mingmen acupoint is a Governor Vessel acupoint, located in the waist. The waist is the home of the kidneys, and the Governor Vessel runs through the spine and belongs to the kidneys. It has the function of strengthening the foundation and strengthening the waist and knees. Therefore, this acupoint is the first choice for warming the kidney yang and strengthening the foundation and strengthening the essence. "Spring cover" is to keep the waist corresponding to Mingmen acupoint warm, which can effectively protect kidney yang. Kidney yang is the foundation of yang energy of the internal organs. The yang energy of the five internal organs cannot be generated without kidney yang. Symptoms such as cold body and limbs, fear of cold and love of heat, sore waist and knees, etc. all belong to the category of kidney yang deficiency. Usually, you can use salt bags for hot compresses or moxibustion this acupoint to play a health care role.

The Mingmen point is located on the waist, on the posterior midline, in the depression below the spinous process of the second lumbar vertebra, and on the same level as the navel.

Place one hand or both palms overlapping on the Mingmen acupoint, and rub horizontally at the same time to create a warm feeling in the area. Do this at least 50 times each time, 1-2 times a day.

Sanyinjiao acupoint

This acupoint is located on the inner side of the calf, where the liver, spleen and kidney meridians intersect. It is a key acupoint for nourishing blood and yin, and has the functions of promoting blood circulation and regulating menstruation, invigorating qi and strengthening spleen, and nourishing liver and kidney. The "Inner Canon of Medicine" says: "Pain is caused by excessive cold, and pain occurs because of cold." Therefore, "covering in spring" to keep the inner side of the calf where the Sanyinjiao acupoint is located warm can prevent and relieve liver cold abdominal pain, spleen deficiency diarrhea, etc. caused by the entry of cold evil into the body.

Sanyinjiao is located on the inner side of the calf, 3 inches above the medial ankle joint.

You can use the thumb to massage the Sanyinjiao acupoint until you feel soreness and swelling. Massage for 3 minutes on each side, 1-2 times a day. You can also use moxibustion on the acupoint until you feel a local warm sensation.
