It’s so relaxing to do whatever you want during the holidays, but what should you do if you break out in acne after the holidays?

I couldn't keep my mouth shut during the holidays

I regret having acne after the holidays

No scruples about big fish and big meat

Three meals a day plus midnight snack

Stay up till dawn

How to solve it correctly

Many people spend too much time "comfortably" during the holidays, eat too many spicy and stimulating foods, and eat too many high-fat and high-sugar foods. They also start to get "red and swollen pimples" on their faces after staying up late. Dermatologists remind us that these are mostly common acne.

Acne, commonly known as "pimples", is a chronic inflammatory disease of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands. It can occur in people of all ages, but the highest incidence rate is in adolescents. It is more common in young men and women aged 15-30. The lesions are more likely to occur on the cheeks and forehead, followed by the chest, back and shoulders. They are mostly symmetrically distributed and are often accompanied by sebum secretion.

The main causes of acne are related to four major reasons: increased androgen and sebum, excessive keratinization at the opening of the sebaceous glands of the hair follicles, infection with Propionibacterium acnes and secondary inflammatory response. The occurrence of acne in some patients is also related to genetic, immune, endocrine disorders, emotions and diet factors.

The initial lesions of acne are conical papules consistent with hair follicles, such as whiteheads and blackheads. Whiteheads can be squeezed out to reveal white-yellow tofu-like substances, while blackheads are caused by oxidation of the lipid plugs contained in them. As the skin lesions worsen, inflammatory papules may form with small pustules on the top. Continuous development may form dark red nodules or cysts of varying sizes. There is a sense of fluctuation when squeezed. If not healed for a long time, it may fester and form abscesses. Sinus tracts and scars are often formed after rupture.

The reason for the recurrence of acne is inseparable from the inflammatory response. The treatment principles are mainly to remove fat, dissolve keratin, sterilize, reduce inflammation and regulate hormone levels. You need to pay attention to washing your face with clean water, and it is strictly forbidden to squeeze and scratch acne with your hands. Try to avoid eating spicy and irritating foods, control fat and sugar foods, eat more fresh vegetables, fruits and foods rich in vitamins, combine work and rest, and avoid staying up late.

In addition, experts carefully remind that if the acne area is large or severe, please go to a professional dermatology department of a tertiary hospital. The doctor will provide standardized treatment based on the patient's symptoms and condition. Never take medication on your own!
