"Blockage" and "leakage" of cerebral blood vessels: understanding the different types of stroke

In life, we often hear the word "stroke", but do you know what it looks like? Simply put, a stroke is a sudden interruption of blood supply to the brain, causing the brain tissue to be damaged by "lack of oxygen", just like a machine that stops working properly due to lack of electricity.

Stroke can be divided into several types according to the cause:

Vascular occlusion type (ischemic stroke): the most common type, just like a clogged water pipe, the blood vessels are blocked by blood clots, causing the brain tissue to "starve" (ischemia and hypoxia).

Blood vessel rupture type (hemorrhagic stroke): cerebral blood vessels rupture and bleed, just like a burst water pipe, which will compress the surrounding brain tissue and also cause damage. Although the probability of this type of stroke is lower than that of the blockage type, it is more dangerous.

Transient ischemic attack (TIA): Also called a "mini-stroke," the symptoms are similar to those of a stroke, but they are generally short-lived and leave no permanent damage. Be careful! Although the symptoms may disappear, they are a warning sign of a future severe stroke, so don't ignore them!

The following symptoms are warning signs of stroke. If they occur, you must call emergency services immediately:

1. Suddenly feel weakness and numbness in one arm or leg

2. Unclear speech and tongue-tiedness

3. Suddenly, everything in front of your eyes becomes dark and you can’t see clearly

4. Severe headache, different from previous headaches

5. Feeling dizzy and unsteady

If you experience these symptoms, don't hesitate, call the emergency number immediately! Time is life, and rapid medical treatment can greatly reduce the damage caused by stroke and increase the possibility of recovery.

Remember, by understanding the relevant knowledge about stroke and identifying the symptoms in time, you can help yourself and those around you stay away from the threat of stroke.
