Painful, urgent, and frequent urination in adolescents: Not necessarily a urinary tract infection

When you have symptoms of urinary pain, urgency, and frequency, the first thing that comes to mind is a urinary tract infection. In clinical practice, we are used to calling frequent urination, urgency, and pain as urinary irritation symptoms. Most patients with urinary tract infection will have urinary tract irritation symptoms, but not all urinary tract irritation symptoms mean that you have a urinary tract infection.

Urinary tract infection refers to inflammation caused by various pathogens invading the urinary tract, common pathogens include bacteria, viruses, etc. When urinary tract infection occurs, patients often experience symptoms such as urinary pain, urgency, and frequent urination, which cause great distress to patients.

However, it is worth noting that symptoms such as urinary pain, urgency, and frequent urination are not necessarily signs of urinary tract infection. In fact, these symptoms may also appear in other diseases, such as cystitis and prostatitis. In addition, some bad living habits, such as holding urine for a long time and not paying attention to personal hygiene, may also lead to the appearance of these symptoms.

Because today's teenagers spend a long time studying, a short time on activities and rest, and sit for a long time, they often experience symptoms of urinary pain, urgency, and frequent urination. This not only causes physical discomfort to children, but may also cause psychological trauma. What should be done if teenagers experience urinary pain, urgency, and frequent urination? First of all, parents should take their children to the hospital for examination in time to confirm the cause. If a urinary tract infection is confirmed, the doctor will develop a treatment plan based on the patient's specific situation. But many times these symptoms can be prevented.

How to do daily prevention?

1. Maintain good living habits. Wear loose underwear and try to avoid wearing tight pants; maintain a correct sitting posture and avoid crossing your legs; eat less spicy drinks such as chili peppers and coffee.

2. Exercise appropriately, avoid sitting for long periods of time, combine work and rest, and enhance your immunity;

3. Ensure adequate sleep time to avoid excessive fatigue that may lead to decreased immunity;

4. Start with three diligences: pay attention to personal hygiene, take a bath frequently, wash the vulva with running water, and keep the vulva dry; change underwear frequently and drink water frequently (1500-2000ml/day).

5. Try to avoid holding urine for a long time and urinate in time.

In short, the symptoms of urinary pain, urgency, and frequent urination in adolescents are not necessarily caused by urinary tract infection, but may also be caused by other diseases or bad living habits. Therefore, when these symptoms appear, parents should take their children to the hospital for examination in time to diagnose the cause and treat it. At the same time, maintaining good living habits and paying attention to personal hygiene are also important measures to prevent these symptoms. Let us work together to care for the health of teenagers and create a better future for them!
