How to prevent intestinal polyps?

Medical experts often attribute the occurrence of colorectal cancer to one sentence: three highs and two lows

Three highs, namely high protein, high calories, and high fat foods;

Two lesses: less exercise and less dietary fiber.

Therefore, in preventing intestinal polyps, we must first control our diet and move our legs.

1. Eat less red meat

Adults need about 50 grams of protein per day, most of which can be obtained from plant foods.

Red meat, which is the meat of mammals, such as pork, beef, and mutton, is classified as a Class 2A carcinogen. The culprit is the heme contained in red meat, nitrites that make the meat redder, and a mixture of heterocyclic amines produced by high-temperature cooking. Therefore, eat less red meat as much as possible.

2. Eat less animal fat

Overweight and obesity are the culprits of almost all diseases and are also risk factors for colon polyps and colon cancer. The fatter you are, the higher the risk.

Red meat and white meat from animals contain too much saturated fatty acids. Excessive intake stimulates the production of too much bile. Excess bile is retained in the large intestine and converted into valeric acid, which has been confirmed to be a carcinogen.

3. Eat more foods rich in dietary fiber

Dietary fiber is not absorbed by the human body. After entering the large intestine, it promotes intestinal peristalsis, reduces the residence time of food and potential carcinogens in the intestine, and greatly shortens the contact time between carcinogens and the intestinal wall. Dietary fiber is fermented by bacteria in the large intestine, retains moisture in the stool, softens the stool, has a laxative effect, and protects the intestinal ecology.

Although clinical research is controversial, most scholars agree that it is beneficial for preventing intestinal polyps and intestinal cancer. More than 25 grams should be supplemented every day.

Foods rich in dietary fiber include figs, beans, barley, eggplant, pears, green leafy vegetables, etc. Whole grains have the highest dietary fiber content, beans have the highest content, and meat, eggs, and milk have no dietary fiber; chewy vegetables, wild vegetables, and dark vegetables have higher dietary fiber content, and the fiber content will not change after the vegetables are chopped.

In short, in order to prevent the occurrence of colon cancer, early prevention, early detection, and early treatment are currently advocated. Timely colonoscopy can block the transformation of colon polyps into colon cancer.
