Li Fuhua, director of Tianjin University Aier Eye Hospital, said that glaucoma is a blinding eye disease that causes irreversible visual damage. Some glaucoma patients develop acute symptoms and may become blind in the short term if the disease cannot be controlled. Early examination, diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma are the key to preventing optic nerve damage and blindness.

Symptoms of glaucoma attack

Eye pain, possibly accompanied by headache;

The eyeball feels hard to the touch;

· Iris vision, where a rainbow-like halo appears around a light source (such as a light bulb);

· Deterioration of vision, and reduction in the range of vision;

People at high risk of glaucoma

People aged 40 and above;

People with a family history of glaucoma ;

People with high myopia or hyperopia;

People with diabetes ;

People who use glucocorticoids for a long time;

The probability of acute glaucoma attacks in high-risk groups is much higher than that of the general population, and regular check-ups are recommended. The onset of glaucoma is somewhat hidden, and if it can be detected and diagnosed early, and scientific and reasonable treatment is carried out under the guidance of a doctor, the blindness rate of glaucoma can be reduced.

Causes of acute attacks

Emotional agitation;

Temperature changes (such as large indoor and outdoor temperature differences in winter);

· Reading at close range for a long time;

Using eyes in dark environment for a long time;

Precautions

· Change your lifestyle, pay attention to your mentality, maintain a stable mood, and avoid drastic emotional changes such as mental tension, excessive anger and excitement;

Do not read or play with your phone for a long time in a dark environment with the lights off;

Maintain good sleep, avoid excessive eye strain, and pay attention to the combination of work and rest.
