What does it mean when a child has "clairvoyance"?

Some parents have found that their children can see clearly even words that are far away. Some people may sigh that the "new eyes" are very useful. Then why can children see things that are very far away clearly?

Hyperopia reserve

In fact, children can see very far away because they have hyperopia. Generally speaking, newborns have smaller eyeballs and shorter eye axes, and both eyes are almost in a state of hyperopia. This is physiological hyperopia and also a kind of "hyperopia reserve". However, as they grow and develop, the degree of hyperopia will gradually decrease and return to normal. Hyperopia reserve can be said to be a protective factor for the eyes. Because the eye axis grows naturally, generally speaking, it will remain stable until the age of 18.

Zhu Lina, director of Tianjin University Aier Eye Hospital, said that long-term bad eye use and bad living habits during the development process may cause the hyperopia reserve to be consumed faster, which will increase the risk of myopia. If the hyperopia reserve is consumed after the eyeball has completed development, the possibility of myopia will also be reduced. When children squint, rub their eyes frequently, and lower their heads when writing or reading, their hyperopia reserve should be checked in time and intervention should be carried out as soon as possible.

How to prevent myopia

1. Do more outdoor sports. For teenagers and children, it is recommended to spend at least 2 hours of outdoor activities every day. It should be noted that outdoor activities should be carried out under natural light, that is, before the sun sets.

2. Control the time of using electronic products. It is recommended that younger children use electronic products for no more than two hours a day, and it is not recommended for children under two years old to use electronic products.

3. Maintain good eye posture. Reduce continuous close-up eye use time and pay attention to reading and writing posture standards.

4. Get enough sleep. It is recommended that primary school students sleep no less than 10 hours a day and junior high school students sleep no less than 9 hours a day, and avoid staying up late.
