How much do you know about depression?

I couldn't believe the news that singer Coco Lee committed suicide. I was listening to her song "Miss You 365 Days" a few days ago, which is the theme song of my favorite animation "The Lotus Lantern". I didn't expect to see the news of her death suddenly. It's really hard to accept.

After a quick search online, it turned out that Coco Lee unfortunately suffered from depression a few years ago. After a long battle with the disease, her condition took a turn for the worse recently. She attempted suicide at home on July 2 and remained in a coma after being sent to the hospital. The hospital team worked hard to rescue and treat her, but she eventually passed away on July 5.

"Full of energy - depression?" "Unbelievable". These are the words I see most often used to describe Coco Lee's suicide. Indeed, in everyone's eyes, she is an excellent woman full of energy. It is really a pity that she chose to end her life at such a young age. However, facing depression, sometimes we are really helpless. Let's talk about depression.

01. About depression

Many people still don't have a correct understanding of depression, and even think that passionate people like Coco Lee won't be depressed. However, in fact, in many cases, laughter may just be their protective color. I have heard that comedy practitioners are more likely to be depressed. For mental illnesses such as depression, more attention and understanding are needed.

I have been deeply involved in depression, or maybe I have been depressed. To be honest, my feelings are: despair. Unlike most of the physical pain, we can empathize with physical pain to a certain extent, because physical pain is relatively easy to describe, such as pain. But mental pain, to be honest, may not be experienced by those who are not the person involved.

And after that experience, one of my biggest feelings is: you should not consider the thoughts of people with depression from the perspective of a normal person. Because their thoughts may be completely different. Therefore, taking care of depression is really cautious, but also scary.

Especially since I experienced a heavy blow during my studies, I was also somewhat depressed during that time. So looking back on my feelings at that time, you will find that many things that can make normal people excited and happy are actually not interesting to me at all. No one should look for me, and no one should give me any encouragement or inspiration. Really, these may bring even greater pain.

But later I came out of it, but if I were to give some advice to people with depression, I wouldn't know what to say, because the mental difference is so huge. Maybe finding something that keeps you from giving up will be a straw.

So I am very eager to solve depression to some extent, but I dare not touch it. One of my classmates once tried to analyze the organic impact of depression, but after a few years, he stopped working on this topic. It may not only be the difficulty of the research, but also a challenge to himself.

02. “Depression of Abuse”

"Abused depression" is actually very dangerous. Today, if you don't have depression, you are embarrassed to talk about your life. It seems that depression is everywhere. However, this is actually very dangerous to some extent.

The real danger of abuse is that some non-depressed people unscrupulously destroy the name of the disease, causing those who actually suffer from depression to not receive attention, and even stigmatizing the disease.

I remember there was a big V who said he was depressed every day, and then went around asking for money, and was eventually permanently blocked, but he still claims to be a victim and asks for money everywhere. On the other hand, another big V who didn’t show any signs of depression suddenly committed suicide by taking pills one day, and in the end it took a lot of effort from everyone to save him.

So, this is also a big problem with depression, that is, ordinary people are actually not able to judge this. And the definition of depression is also difficult to determine.

Alas, I hope there will be some better solutions in the future.
