Can I have miscarriage if the placenta is low?

If the placenta is low during pregnancy, it can easily cause miscarriage. Therefore, if the examination finds that the placenta is low, you need to focus on effective adjustment. You should pay attention to the doctor's advice and not take medicine blindly. You should pay attention to prevention in life and actively do prenatal examinations.

1. As the pregnancy time increases, especially in the late pregnancy or after delivery, the lower segment of the uterus will gradually stretch, which will cause the cervical canal to disappear and the cervical opening to continue to expand. However, the placenta does not develop with the expansion of the cervical opening, resulting in it detaching from its attachment point, and blood vessels rupturing and vaginal bleeding.

2. Once the amount of bleeding is too heavy, pregnant women are likely to develop symptoms of anemia; if the bleeding is severe, it is easy to go into shock and faint, which can cause the baby in the womb to suffer from hypoxia, respiratory distress, and even death.

3. Although this bleeding depends on the type of placenta previa, the chance of heavy and repeated early bleeding is relatively low in low-lying placenta. However, during labor, each uterine contraction will pull the lower segment of the uterus upward, often causing increased bleeding and resulting in serious consequences.

4. Pregnant women with low-lying placenta do not need to worry too much, because for some pregnant women, as the gestational age increases, the lower part of the uterus will lengthen and the position of the placenta will rise, and the placenta will no longer be in a low-lying position. If there is no obvious discomfort before 28 weeks of pregnancy and the fetus is developing well, it is recommended to continue observation without treatment. If the placenta is still low-lying during B-ultrasound examination at 28 weeks of pregnancy, treatment is required.

5. Because a low-lying placenta is prone to prenatal bleeding, if the amount of bleeding is heavy, it may be complicated by premature birth, stillbirth, and intrauterine fetal death. You need to pay attention to your daily health care, get enough rest, avoid overwork, and don't use too much force when changing your body position, including when defecating. Avoid constipation and sexual intercourse. Go to the hospital immediately if you notice bleeding.
