To be honest! This eye disease must be treated while it is hot!

In most people's minds, crying is a physiological reaction related to emotions. However, some people are born with a "low tear point" and often cry inexplicably and for no reason, and it is difficult to control. People who don't know them may think that they are emotionally rich. In fact, this is most likely due to a problem with the tear duct.

1. Why do you cry for no reason?

Zhang Jiang, deputy chief physician, member of the systemic disease-related ophthalmology group of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and director of the tear duct/eye and nose related specialty of the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University, introduced: Tears are mainly secreted by the tear glands and are produced all the time to moisten the eyeballs and kill bacteria. We usually can't feel tears because most of the tears are discharged into the nasal cavity through the tear duct. When we are emotionally excited, the secretion of tears increases, and the tear duct cannot be discharged in time, so tears will burst out. However, if we are not stimulated, but always shed tears for no reason, it is very likely that there is a problem with the tear duct.

2. Tear duct disease is not a small problem

Some people think that it is just tears and it does not seem to have a big impact on life, so they do not take the issue of tears seriously. However, this mentality of "putting it off as long as possible" often turns minor problems into "major problems" that require surgery.

Zhang Jiang reminds: The typical symptom of tear duct disease in the early stage is tearing, which is generally difficult to heal on its own. If it is not treated for a long time, the disease will continue to recur, leading to worsening of the disease, causing dacryocystitis, and may even induce skin eczema and conjunctivitis. Tear duct disease is a potential threat to eye health.

3. Tear duct diseases should be treated in summer rather than winter

"Winter disease" refers to certain diseases that are prone to occur in winter or worsen in winter, and tear duct disease belongs to this category. "Summer treatment" means that the disease frequently occurs in winter, and the symptoms are relatively mild in summer and easy to treat. For tear duct disease, the symptoms in summer may not be so severe, and the tearing phenomenon has also improved. This is because the hot water in summer is easy to evaporate, and the tears are also easy to evaporate, creating a "false impression" that the tear duct disease has been cured. At this time, you should still be vigilant, and please see a doctor immediately if you have symptoms such as tearing and increased eye mucus.
