Picture of 8-month-old fetus in the belly

When the pregnancy reaches 8 months, the fetus is about 40cm long and weighs about 1800g. The mean fetal biparietal diameter was 8.17±0.65cm, the mean fetal abdominal circumference was 26.20±2.33cm, and the femoral length was 6.43±0.49cm.

At this stage, each organ of the fetus continues to grow and develop soundly, the internal organs are fully developed, and the lungs and intestines are close to maturity. If it is a boy, his testicles may have already entered the scrotum from the abdomen, but some babies may not enter the scrotum until the day they are born; if it is a girl, her labia majora are obviously protruding and close together. This indicates that the baby's genitals are nearly fully developed. At the same time, the baby's head position will begin to lower, forming a head-down and buttocks-up posture, which also means that the baby is ready to enter the pelvis and prepare for birth.

Pregnancy check reminder in 8th month

1. Basic prenatal check-up items: From 28 to 36 weeks of pregnancy, the frequency of prenatal check-up is once every two weeks. Prenatal examination items include basic items such as blood pressure, weight, uterine fundus height, fetal abdominal circumference, fetal heart rate, fetal position, blood test, urine test. These basic items refer to the key testing indicators for prenatal care of mothers, which are helpful for doctors to have a more comprehensive understanding of the basic conditions of pregnant mothers. In addition, starting from this week, fetal heart rate monitoring will also be included in routine physical examinations.

2. The most important prenatal examination item: fetal position check: that is, check the position of the fetus in the pregnant mother's uterus. The position of the fetus in the womb before birth is very important, and medicine also uses the fetal position as one of the criteria for choosing the mode of delivery. The transverse position of the fetus will bring different degrees of difficulties and risks to pregnant women during childbirth. Proper detection of fetal deviation is conducive to early correction and has important practical significance for the prevention of dystocia in pregnant women. The best time to adjust the fetal position is between 30 and 32 weeks of pregnancy.

In the eighth month of pregnancy, pregnant mothers should still ensure a scientifically arranged diet and adequate intake of nutrients, but pay attention to controlling weight gain to prevent the fetus from taking in too much nutrients and causing a large fetus, which will cause difficulties in future delivery for pregnant women. In addition, pay attention to appropriate activities, such as taking a walk, doing gymnastics for pregnant women, etc., which are beneficial to exercise the body of pregnant women, improve energy, and ensure a successful delivery.
