With the improvement of living standards, there are more and more contraceptive methods. In addition to common contraceptive methods such as men wearing condoms, women can also use contraceptive rings to prevent pregnancy. There are many different shapes of contraceptive rings, among which O-shaped contraceptive rings are more common. However, not many people know how to use contraceptive rings in daily life. Many people want to know how often to change the O-type contraceptive ring?

The duration of an O-type contraceptive ring in the body is determined by the material of the contraceptive ring. Generally, metal rings can be placed for 10-15 years, while those made of silicone rubber and plastic can generally be placed for 5-7 years. However, during the entire process of wearing the IUD, it is best to check it every year to see if there are any safety hazards. If the ring is out of date, it is best to remove it and put it back in again to avoid the ring getting stuck in the uterine muscle layer.

Common problems after IUD insertion

1. Vaginal bleeding, mild lower abdominal discomfort and excessive vaginal discharge may occur a few days after the IUD is inserted. Ladies do not need to worry about this as it is normal and will usually disappear on its own without treatment. If the bleeding is heavy or lasts for more than a week, especially if you have abdominal pain or fever, go to the hospital immediately.

2. After the IUD is inserted, try to avoid holding your breath excessively when going to the toilet to prevent the IUD from falling off due to a sudden increase in abdominal pressure.

3. For those who need to do high-intensity exercise or carry heavy objects, it is best not to do it to avoid the ring from falling off and bleeding. It is recommended to avoid underwater and jumping sports, such as track and field sports, water fitness, and fast-paced dance within five weeks.

4. After the IUD is inserted, sexual intercourse is strictly prohibited within the first three weeks. Having sexual intercourse too early may bring bacteria into the uterine cavity and cause infection.

After wearing an O-type contraceptive ring, it generally does not need to be replaced within 10 years. If no problems are found, there is no problem using it for 20 years. Therefore, after wearing the IUD, it is recommended to go to the hospital for regular check-ups to see if there are any side effects. It is also important to note that you should rest well in the early stages of wearing the IUD and avoid doing any strenuous work.
