1. Different effects of damage to the two sides of the brain

A stroke on the left side of the brain can affect the right side of the body, and you may experience some of the following:

(1) Oral barriers and inability to express ideas clearly.

(2) Inability to read, write, and learn new information.

(3) Impaired ability to do mathematics or to organize, reason, and analyze things.

A stroke on the right side of the brain can affect the left side of the body, and you may experience some of the following:

(1) Impairments in depth perception or orientation, such as the inability to judge the up, down, front, and back direction of displacement.

2. Changes in the ability to move and perceive things

The brain has different areas that control movement and sensation. When a stroke damages a part of the brain, that part may not function as well as it did before.
