TrendForce: The combined production of the world's top six smartphone brands in Q4 2024 will reach 335 million units, a 9.2% increase from the previous quarter

According to recent news, TrendForce released the global mobile phone production report for the fourth quarter of 2024. The total production of the world's top six smartphone brands this quarter reached 335 million units, a quarterly increase of 9.2%.

This quarter's overall data increased significantly mainly because the production of the iPhone 16 series entered its peak, and some parts of China provided consumption subsidies to stimulate demand.

Specifically, Apple's total production was 80.1 million units, a quarterly increase of 57.4%, and its market share ranking jumped to first place in the world.

Samsung produced 52.4 million smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2024, a quarterly decrease of 10.6%, and its ranking dropped to second.

Xiaomi (including Redmi and Poco), which ranks third in market share, will produce 44.5 million units in the fourth quarter of 2024, a quarterly increase of 4.7%; the total production in 2024 will be 170 million units, a year-on-year increase of 15.3%.

TrendForce said that its complete layout of high, medium and low-end products, coupled with a marketing strategy that emphasizes high cost-performance, is more popular amid the slowdown in economic growth.

Thanks to the consumer subsidy policy, Xiaomi's sales share in the Chinese smartphone market will increase in 2024, and is expected to continue to grow in 2025.

OPPO (including OnePlus and Realme) produced 36.8 million units in the fourth quarter of 2024, a slight quarterly decrease of 1.1%, ranking fourth; although it also benefited from China's subsidy policy, it was mostly reflected in the increase in the proportion of high-end mobile phone sales rather than the increase in total volume.

The total production volume of vivo (including iQOO) in the fourth quarter of 2024 was 28.6 million units, a quarterly increase of 5.9%, ranking fifth in market share; China is the main market overall, and sales have grown significantly due to subsidy policies.

Overall, domestic mobile phones performed well this quarter, especially with the obvious boost from the national subsidy policy, which can be regarded as a great assist.
