Counterpoint: Global smartphone sales to grow 2% year-on-year in Q3 2024

According to recent news, the latest data from the research firm Counterpoint Research shows that global smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2024 will increase by 2% year-on-year, which is the first year-on-year growth since the third quarter of 2018 .

In the global smartphone market, Samsung continued to lead with a 19% market share, mainly due to the continued demand for its A series and the performance improvement of the S24 series.

Apple followed closely behind with a market share of 16% and sales growth of 1% year-on-year. It further consolidated its market position with the iPhone 16 series released in September.

Xiaomi maintained its strong growth momentum in the global market, with its mobile phone sales increasing for four consecutive quarters and ranking third with a market share of 14% in the quarter.

OPPO ranked fourth with a market share of 9% and achieved its highest sales since the third quarter of 2023.

Vivo also performed well, with a market share of 9%, ranking among the top five, and has become a leading manufacturer in China and India, the two largest smartphone markets in the world.
