How long can you survive if your water breaks at home?

When a woman is pregnant, not only is the fetus in the uterus, but there is also a lot of amniotic fluid. Generally, when giving birth, the amniotic fluid breaks. If a pregnant woman's amniotic fluid breaks, she needs to go to the hospital as soon as possible and must not delay to avoid risks. So, how long can it take for the water to break at home?

If a pregnant woman's water breaks at home, how long she can last depends on the actual situation. If the pregnant woman is already full-term when her water breaks, she will generally have regular uterine contractions within 24 hours, but some pregnant women will not have any movement for several days. After the amniotic fluid breaks, it is very easy to cause infection. If there is no movement after 48 hours, some measures need to be taken.

Generally, pregnant women will give birth within 24 hours after the amniotic fluid breaks. If the baby is not born after 12 hours, the doctor will give the pregnant woman antibiotics to prevent infection. If the baby has not been born within 48 hours after the amniotic fluid has broken, an oxytocin injection should be used. If there is still no sign of labor, a caesarean section should be performed immediately.

When a pregnant woman finds that her amniotic fluid has broken, she should lie down immediately to slow down the discharge of amniotic fluid, and call the emergency number to have an ambulance take her to the hospital as soon as possible. If the pregnant woman's amniotic fluid breaks and the fetus has not yet reached the normal delivery date, it is easy to cause many risks to the baby, and at this time, fetal preservation measures must be taken.
