Evercore ISI: Threads is expected to bring $8 billion in revenue to Meta by 2025

According to recent news, analysts from the well-known investment bank Evercore ISI pointed out that Meta's new social media application Threads is expected to generate $8 billion in revenue by 2025. Currently, the new social media application Threads has more than 100 million users, becoming the fastest growing application to date. In comparison, OpenAI's ChatGPT took about 2 months to attract 100 million users, while Threads only took 5 days.

On Friday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the launch of Threads had “far exceeded our expectations.”

While several Wall Street analysts see Threads as having a limited impact on Meta's financials in the short term as the company is currently focused on growth rather than profitability, an analyst at Evercore ISI believes the new app will have "little to no negative impact on Meta's current business while creating growth opportunities for the company on both revenue and earnings."

“Over the next few years, we estimate Threads could reach close to 200 million DAU (90% of Twitter’s 240 million DAU at the time of acquisition) and generate $8 billion in annual revenue, representing a 5% accretion to our 2025 revenue forecast for Meta. Assuming a 50% gross margin margin, we estimate the $8 billion in revenue generated by Threads would deliver nearly $1.50 in additional EPS, representing a 6% to 7% accretion to Meta’s 2025 EPS forecast,” the analyst said in a client note.

The analyst reiterated his Outperform rating on Meta Platforms shares and identified it as a top pick. He has a price target of $350 per share on the social media giant.
