China Academy of Information and Communications Technology: Domestic 5G mobile phone shipments in April 2022 were 14.585 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 32%

Recently, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released the "Analysis Report on the Operation of the Domestic Mobile Phone Market in April 2022". The report shows that in April 2022, the domestic market mobile phone shipments were 18.079 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 34.2%. Among them, 5G mobile phones were 14.585 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 31.9%, accounting for 80.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In April 2022, 40 new mobile phone models were launched in China, a year-on-year increase of 25.0%. Among them, 21 were 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year increase of 31.3%, accounting for 52.5% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

In terms of brand composition, in April 2022, the shipment volume of domestic brand mobile phones was 16.427 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 33.6%, accounting for

39 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 50.0%, accounting for 97.5% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

In terms of smartphones, in April 2022, 36 new smartphone models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 38.5%, accounting for 90.0% of the number of new smartphone models launched in the same period. Smartphone shipments were 17.69 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 34.4%, accounting for 97.8% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.
