Psychological counseling during the epidemic

Psychological counseling during the epidemic

Due to the epidemic, primary school students are unable to return to school. Long-term cramped living and negative information may cause their mood swings and affect their physical and mental health. Parents and primary school students need to pay attention to both their physical health and their mental health.

Train positive thinking and cultivate a positive attitude

Do you often ask yourself questions like this at home?

"Mom, when are we going to travel?"

"Mom, when will my uncle's sister come to our house?"

But the answer I got was: "We can't go out now, and my sister can't go out to our house."

We are all very unhappy to hear such an answer, but in fact, this is a time to increase our opportunities for in-depth communication with our family. It is worth mentioning that we can also contact good friends and relatives through the Internet, which can further deepen our relationship! We must maintain a positive and peaceful attitude to enhance our strength and confidence in overcoming difficulties.

Face negative emotions and adjust yourself in time

We and adults are concerned about the epidemic and feel anxious, scared, and even terrified. These are generally due to concerns about the safety of ourselves and our loved ones.

However, as long as these psychological activities do not seriously affect your life and study, they are all normal psychological reactions.

If you experience negative emotions such as anxiety, tension, uneasiness, fear, guilt, self-blame, anger, etc., it is not your fault. You can express them through words, painting, music, writing, singing, keeping a diary, etc., and use these methods of diverting attention to regulate your negative emotions.

Keep calm and enjoy family time

We respond to the national call to stay at home. The more special the times, the more we should try to keep our mood calm and happy.

You can watch movies or TV series you have always wanted to watch, read books, draw, practice calligraphy, play chess, exercise indoors, etc. You can also use this time to review your schoolwork and online courses, etc.

Enjoy staying at home with your family and having a happy family reunion.

Develop a regular work and rest schedule to enhance physical and mental immunity

At home, you should maintain the same routine and daily life as at school; drink plenty of water and exercise appropriately; try to do your own things and regard helping your parents with housework as another form of physical exercise.

Make a plan for your life and study with your parents. Don't be idle all day, nor be too tired and upset.

The teacher reminded everyone that they can try to cook a dish by themselves; and take on some housework every day such as sweeping the floor, washing socks, etc.

Strengthening mental health care in the face of physical and mental abnormalities

As mentioned above, people will have anxiety, fear and other psychological activities in the face of unknown disasters, which is normal. Moderate anxiety and fear can also help us to be more vigilant and better deal with disasters. However, excessive anxiety and fear will cause damage to our body and mind.

If you experience some abnormal physical and mental symptoms, you can try to adjust yourself:

1. Talk: Let it all out and get support and corrections;

2. Reading: relieve stress, divert attention, and increase knowledge;

3. Music: Listen to relaxing and pleasant music, such as classical music or light music, and sing;

4. Writing: You can write down your own experiences, physical and psychological troubles;

5. Relaxation training: deep breathing, yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, etc.
