Counterpoint: Survey shows that 50% of users worldwide spend more than 5 hours on smartphones every day

Market research firm Counterpoint has released interesting information about daily smartphone usage. According to researchers, half of smartphone users spend more than 5 hours a day on their mobile devices, with 26% spending more than 7 hours. Global annual spending on smartphone hardware exceeds $37 billion.

Counterpoint also released a detailed analysis of some data. Analysts believe that users in developing countries tend to use their mobile phones longer than those in developed countries. For example, 55% of users in Malaysia spend more than five hours on their mobile phones, while only 43% of users in Japan spend 3 hours on their mobile phones every day.

In addition, in terms of mobile phone consumption, developed markets tend to spend more money on mobile phones. Half of smartphone users in Saudi Arabia, Australia and Germany are willing to pay more than $400 for a mobile phone, and one-third of them are even willing to pay more than $500. In India, only 5% of users are willing to pay this price for a mobile phone. However, 5% of the population in India is about the same as the number of Germans, Australians and half of the population in Saudi Arabia.

On average, users around the world replace their phones every 21 months, while in Mexico the average is only 18 months, while in Japan users replace their phones every 26 months.

The most common function of smartphones is browsing the Internet, accounting for 64%, followed by games, accounting for 62%, making voice calls and sending text messages, accounting for 55% and 54% respectively.
