YouGov: Nearly half of Chinese netizens are satisfied with current mobile payment tools and do not need Apple Pay

A survey in February 2016 showed that nearly half of Chinese netizens do not use Apple Pay because current mobile payment tools can already meet all their needs.

YouGov investigated the reasons why Chinese netizens do not use Apple Pay, and one of the main reasons is that they do not have Apple devices.

According to demographics, more than 40% of Chinese female netizens are satisfied with other mobile payment tools, while 37% of male netizens say so. About 1/5 of the respondents said they like mobile payment tools because of their additional functions, such as sending red envelopes to friends.

At the same time, the answers of netizens of different age groups are also inconsistent as to why netizens do not like to use Apple Pay. 29% of netizens aged 18 to 24 said that the current mobile payment tools can already meet all their needs, and 1/4 said that Apple Pay is more niche.

Older Internet users prefer current services not only because they meet all their needs but also because of the additional services.

A January 2016 Economist Corporate Network (ECN) survey found that consumers occasionally like to use mobile payments, including for payment services.

However, many smartphone users and netizens still have concerns about using mobile payment services. Obviously, if Apple Pay wants to increase its market share in China, it must attract more consumers to trust that its services can meet all their needs.
