Argus Insights: Study finds consumer interest in wearables declining

Now, the wearable market has not fully taken off, and many manufacturers hope to win consumers and the market with a variety of wearable devices. However, research by market analysis company Argus Insights shows that consumers have become increasingly indifferent to wearable devices this year. Argus Insights' research did not use actual sales data, but rather inferred this trend through user reviews of wearable products and social media conversations.

The Argus Insights research report indicated that consumers' interest in wearable devices peaked before the end of 2014, and shipments of wearable devices from many brands surged during the Christmas shopping season at the end of 2014. However, since then, consumers' interest in wearable devices has begun to decline sharply.

Apple launched the Apple Watch at the end of last year, and it is under pressure to continue to promote the development of wearable devices. In fact, Apple's smartwatch has rapidly increased consumer interest in wearable devices, but it did not last long. Consumer interest in wearable devices peaked here, but then quickly fell. Currently, consumer interest in Apple Watch is lower than the same period last year.

Argus Insights said that we can speculate that either more consumers are still waiting to see the entire wearable device market, or a large number of consumers have become wearable device customers, they have already purchased the products and are not in a hurry to upgrade to new technologies and products. Either way, it is not good news for wearable device manufacturers this year.
