76% of air passengers use airline apps, and 43% say that using apps has greatly improved their travel.

SITA surveyed passengers passing through the world's top 30 airports and found that 97% of them carried smartphones, tablets or laptops. It is worth noting that 20% of passengers carried all three at the same time.

So it’s no surprise that 56% of passengers are eager to use their devices for entertainment during the flight.

In terms of features, airport maps and directions were the most popular, with 57% wanting this feature on their mobile devices. 53% want to receive customized flight delay alerts, and 50% want to be able to check in using their smartphone.

Passengers are also keen on wearables, with 77% saying it would be great if technology could assist them in their journey.
