ChangeWave Research: 5% of consumers are very willing to buy Apple smartwatches for themselves and others

The latest research data from ChangeWave Research shows that 5% of consumers are very eager to buy Apple smart watches for themselves and others, and 14% are willing to buy Apple smart watches. In comparison, in January 2010, 18% of consumers said they were willing to buy Apple tablets, and 4% were very willing to buy them. Going back to 2005, the statistics at that time showed that 18% of people were interested in buying Mac devices with Intel processors.

The data released today is a good sign for the iWatch, of course, assuming that Apple will indeed release such a product in the future. Because combined with previous data, the iPad has continued to dominate the tablet market since its release in 2010, and subsequent followers seem to have failed to defeat the iPad. When Apple's Mac computers switched to Intel processors, Mac sales did reach a new high.

In this data, the main driving force for interest in Apple smartwatches actually stems from consumers' loyalty to the Apple brand, because among consumers who are willing to buy iWatch, 18% said that their trust in Apple is the main selling point of this product, 16% said they value the portability of smartwatches, 14% thought the design of this product would be cool and so were willing to buy it, and 11% of consumers mentioned that they could imagine that this smartwatch would interact very well with other Apple products.

The survey was conducted on 1,713 respondents in North America between March 4 and 19. Andy Golub of ChangWave Research Services said: "The convenience, ease of use and great design that Apple has previously brought to people are the main reasons why people are willing to buy iWatch devices in the early stages. Even if the iWatch itself may not exist, these data are proof of success for Apple."

Rumors about Apple's release of a smartwatch began at the beginning of this year, with many media reports indicating that Apple is developing a wearable watch accessory, and one report also mentioned that Apple has invested a 100-person R&D team in this project. Pebble's previous success on Kickstarter has made many technology giants want to try smartwatches, and currently companies that are reportedly producing and planning to release smartwatches include Microsoft, Samsung, Google, and LG.
