Nielsen recently pointed out that feature phones still outperform smartphones in some countries, including India, Brazil, Russia, etc. Nielsen released the "2013 Mobile Consumer Report" today. The report pointed out that smartphones have become the mainstream mobile phones in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and China, while in countries where network support is still limited, feature phones are still the first choice for local people. The survey report data shows that the smartphone market share in the United States is 53%, while in the United Kingdom, South Korea and China it is 61%, 67% and 66% respectively. In India, Turkey, Brazil and Russia it is only 10%, 19%, 36% and 37%. In addition, Nielsen also found that in countries with high smartphone usage, users prefer to choose data package services, while in countries with low usage, users basically rely on WiFi to access the Internet. As for the number of mobile phones owned, a very interesting phenomenon emerges: more than half of Russian mobile phone users own two or more mobile phones, while in the United States, this proportion is only 17%. The data for Nielsen's report comes from a survey of 76,204 mobile phone users from April to June 2012. |
