Game developers: 8.8% of developers develop games for Windows Phone

Game Developer magazine released the results of a survey of mobile app developers. As expected, the vast majority of developers support iPhone and Android. Windows Phone ranked third, with 8.8% of developers developing games for Windows Phone. However, considering that the market share of the system is only 2%, it shows that developers still have some confidence in the prospects of Windows Phone.

Although BlackBerry and Symbian have a larger market share and may still have hundreds of millions of units in stock, developers have clearly abandoned them, with less than 3% of developers developing games for them.

The survey also shows that Unity engine is the most popular, with more than 50% of developers using it. Hopefully Windows Phone 8 will add support for this engine, which will make porting games to the Windows Phone platform much easier.
