ShareThis: Mobile social sharing is almost twice as much as desktop social sharing

Mobile phones are where users engage in a lot of social sharing. According to a June 2013 study by ShareThis, users click and share content twice as often on mobile devices as on desktop computers.

In terms of sharing platforms, Facebook is the most popular sharing platform, with 56.5% and 60.3% of people sharing through desktop PCs and mobile terminals respectively. The proportion of users sharing on Twitter and Pinterest through mobile phones is more than twice that of desktop PCs.

The study also found that iPhone users are the most active sharers, with 12.4% of iPhone users sharing online content, while only 7% and 6.3% of Android and BlackBerry users respectively.

The number of people who share Pinterest content via iPad is significantly higher than that via iPhone, reflecting that visual content websites such as Pinterest are more eye-catching on larger screens.

Gigya's data from Q2 2013 found that Facebook has an advantage in sharing content in almost every industry, but Twitter and Pinterest still have an advantage in sharing content in certain specific industries.

When it comes to sharing media content, Twitter is as good as Facebook. When it comes to sharing e-commerce content, Pinterest surpasses Facebook, and it is also very prominent in sharing travel and hotels.
