Facebook earnings report: Facebook's global monthly active users have reached 955 million

Facebook's latest financial report shows that the number of monthly active users worldwide has reached 955 million. Facebook's second quarter revenue was US$1.18 billion, a year-on-year increase of 32%, of which more than US$500 million came from mobile platforms.

Two years ago, North American users accounted for 30% of Facebook users, but now this figure has dropped to less than 20%. In addition, in the past 24 months, the number of Facebook users in North America has increased by only 35%, while the number of Facebook users in other regions has increased by as much as 170%, including 165% in Asia and 63% in Europe.

But this phenomenon is not surprising, given North America’s limited population (350 million people) and Facebook’s coverage in the region, which already stands at 53% (slightly higher than 50% at the end of last year).

European and American users are the most profitable for Facebook advertisers, but Facebook users in other regions outside of Europe and Asia (268 million) only generated $113 million in revenue for the company. The average quarterly revenue per user for Facebook in each region is as follows:

*Europe: $1.43

*Asia: $0.55

*Other regions: $0.44
