Stop soaking wolfberries in a thermos... Dr. West China's 6 recipes will help you stay healthy in autumn!

The weather in Chengdu these days has already had a bit of autumn feel.

Let me share with you the morning glow I took at home!

"White Dew warms the autumn colors, the moon is bright and clear in the sky" - at 23:32 today, we usher in the third solar term of autumn: White Dew, which means that the temperature difference between day and night becomes larger, and the weather is gradually getting cooler .

Autumn is slowly approaching us. Professor Wan Meihua and Doctor Kang Hongxin from the Center for Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine of West China Hospital of Sichuan University are here to teach us about autumn health preservation today.

As the saying goes, the night of the White Dew and the Autumnal Equinox is colder every night. There is also a saying that goes, cover yourself in spring and keep yourself cool in autumn.

However, the elderly, children, people with poor immunity , and those with underlying diseases such as cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and respiratory systems are not suitable for blindly freezing in autumn. Instead, they may catch a cold or induce or even aggravate related diseases.

The autumn and winter seasons every year are also the peak seasons for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and respiratory diseases.

Because when the temperature drops:

▶ It can easily cause vasoconstriction, insufficient blood supply, and lead to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases such as cerebral infarction;

▶ Cold air irritates the respiratory tract and causes respiratory diseases such as influenza and pneumonia.

So, we have explained the reasons here. If you don’t want to get sick and feel uncomfortable, just keep warm. Everyone, be good!

Especially in the morning and evening the temperature will be significantly lower, so don't walk around wearing clothes that expose your waist, navel, or ankles.

Cover yourself with a suitable quilt when you sleep to prevent cold air from entering your body and damaging your yang. Your waist, abdomen and knee joints should especially be kept warm .

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that dryness is the main air during the White Dew season, and autumn dryness is most likely to damage body fluids.

So you will find that in autumn, you are more likely to experience hoarseness, dry throat, sore throat, mouth ulcers, constipation, dry hair, dull and rough skin, cracked and peeling skin, etc. In severe cases, it can also lead to acute onset of chronic lung disease and frequent asthma attacks...

Therefore, regarding health preservation in autumn, "Yinshi Zhengyao" says: "The air is dry in autumn, so it is suitable to eat hemp to moisten the dryness." This means that you can eat more cool, sweet and moist things.

I know you still don't know how to eat it. Huaxi doctors recommend 6 recipes that have the effects of clearing the lungs and moistening dryness, relieving cough and asthma, and nourishing qi and blood. It is best to eat it during the White Dew season~

In addition, it is also recommended to make rock sugar and white fungus soup, lily porridge, Fritillaria and pear soup, red date glutinous rice porridge, lotus seed porridge, sesame and rice porridge, etc.

In addition to eating some medicinal food, you should also do the following:

● Drink more water, such as boiled water, soy milk, milk, and light tea, to nourish yin and moisten dryness;

● Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, such as fresh lotus root, water chestnut, carrot, pear, orange, grapefruit, white fungus, etc. to moisten dryness and promote salivation;

● Eat more lily, honey, lotus seeds and other tonic foods to conform to the lung's cleansing nature;

● Eat more whole grains and vegetables rich in fiber, such as celery, cabbage, etc., to promote bowel movements and prevent intestinal stagnation.

If you have a bad stomach, or already have dry mouth, cough and other discomforts, don't eat blindly. Pay attention to eating scientifically under the guidance of a doctor.

It’s a cliché, even though we are staying at home due to the epidemic, we still need to have a regular schedule and keep exercising!

Going to bed early is good for nourishing and storing Qi, blood and Yin essence, and maintaining adequate sleep will also help you get up early;

Getting up early, breathing fresh air and doing morning exercises can relax and promote lung qi, nourish the middle qi, replenish body fluids, and replenish energy;

Properly strengthening cold-proof exercises can exercise the body's defense function, thereby stimulating the body to gradually adapt to the cold environment, avoiding the occurrence of many diseases, and helping to smoothly pass the cold winter. However, excessive exercise and profuse sweating should be avoided.

Regarding the direction of sleeping, the ancients once proposed the idea of "facing west in autumn and winter".

It is said in Qianjin Yaofang Daolin Yangxing: "When ordinary people lie down, they should face east in spring and summer and west in autumn and winter." It is said in Lao Lao Heng Yan: "When lying down, the head should face east in spring and summer and west in autumn and winter."

The reason is that spring and summer are yang, so you should lie with your head facing east, while autumn and winter are yin, so you should lie with your head facing west, in line with the principle of "nourishing yang in spring and summer, and nourishing yin in autumn and winter".

The third solar term of autumn has officially begun. Everyone should take good care of their health. Let's wait together for the time when we can go out and feel the clear and sunny autumn weather~
