Food Safety | @For those of you who love drinking coffee and cola, how much do you know about their "bones"?

Coffee and cola seem to have become the standard for many people. In order to maintain work efficiency, a cup of coffee is enough to "keep life", and opening a bottle of iced cola is like having a happy summer. However, the saying that "frequent drinking of coffee and cola can lead to osteoporosis" also makes coffee lovers very worried.

Does drinking coffee cause osteoporosis?

A few days ago, a friend who was less than 30 years old felt back pain and went to the hospital for an X-ray examination and found that he had osteoporosis. Isn't this an old age disease? How can such a young person get it? This friend has a habit of drinking coffee, more than three cups a day, and has continued since middle school. The reason why "drinking coffee causes osteoporosis" is mainly because coffee contains oxalic acid and caffeine. Oxalic acid will combine with calcium to inhibit the absorption of calcium, and caffeine is a weak diuretic, which may cause increased excretion of urinary calcium.

For coffee drinkers, drinking 1-2 cups of black coffee a day is safer for bones. If you are worried that caffeine will affect bone density, you can add an appropriate amount of milk to your coffee to supplement calcium, which can prevent calcium absorption problems caused by drinking coffee, but try to use less sugar. It is not recommended to drink three-in-one instant coffee because the non-dairy creamer contained in it will increase the risk of cardiovascular events. If you suffer from arrhythmia, esophageal reflux or bile reflux, it is not recommended to drink coffee. I hope that everyone will care about their bones while enjoying coffee, and supplement the appropriate amount of calcium when necessary.

Does drinking cola affect bone health?

In the hot summer, cola has become a favorite of many people. After a hard day, it is so comfortable to go home and lie on the sofa with a bottle of iced "Happy Fat House Water". However, the saying that "frequent drinking of cola can cause osteoporosis" has been circulating for a long time. Is cola really "a serious sin"?

The reason why people establish a connection between drinking cola and osteoporosis is that it is generally believed that the high phosphorus content in cola will affect bone metabolism. However, studies have shown that the total phosphorus intake of people who drink cola every day is not significantly higher than those who do not drink it. The phosphorus in cola is mostly phosphate and the content is not high. In the case of sufficient calcium intake, drinking carbonated beverages in moderation will not have any effect on the body's calcium absorption. It is okay to drink a small amount occasionally, but long-term and large amounts of drinking will lead to excessive intake of sugar and calories, which may induce metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, gout, etc., and our bones can maintain a healthy and stable state is closely related to the metabolic system.

Everyone should be aware that long-term unhealthy eating habits may affect the synthesis and utilization of calcium, and may even increase urinary calcium excretion, so you should eat a balanced diet and pay attention to calcium intake.
