Natural childbirth has many benefits

Natural childbirth has many benefits

Natural childbirth is also called normal childbirth. It is the process of natural delivery of the fetus and its appendages through the vagina without human intervention, relying on the paroxysmal and regular contractions of the uterus. For mothers who have a smooth natural childbirth, getting out of bed and walking two hours after delivery is no longer a dream. After ten months of pregnancy, they can finally unload the heavy "love" and welcome the arrival of a new life.

Strong uterine contractions promote uterine hemostasis, and labor pains help the mother's milk secretion, allowing the mother to successfully breastfeed, so that milk can come in quickly and early. Natural childbirth does not have the risks of cesarean section surgery and anesthesia, and will not leave cesarean scars. There is no need to worry about scar uterine pregnancy when getting pregnant again. Compared with cesarean section, natural childbirth allows mothers to be discharged from the hospital about 3 days after delivery, and the body recovers faster after delivery, while mothers who have cesarean section need about 7 days to be discharged from the hospital. Improper care of the wound will increase the probability of infection.

Babies born naturally not only gain stronger resistance from the mother, but also the contraction and squeezing of the birth canal cause congestion in the fetal head, stimulate the respiratory center, stimulate the newborn to cry, and reduce the occurrence of suffocation and neonatal distress syndrome. The baby's contact with the mother's vaginal flora is conducive to the establishment of a good intestinal flora for the baby, and the friction between the baby's skin and the mother's vagina can promote the development of the immune system and nervous system.

Eliminate psychosocial factors – fear and tension

Childbirth is an indispensable process for continuing life and reproducing offspring, but it also has a certain psychological impact on expectant mothers, who may feel fear and tension.

Pregnant mothers feel fear and tension about the pain of labor, which can lead to weak uterine contractions, slow cervical dilation, prolonged labor, and may even cause fetal distress in the baby and postpartum hemorrhage in the pregnant mother.

Doctors patiently explain the process of childbirth to pregnant mothers, provide certain psychological support, eliminate fear by understanding the process of childbirth, and learn some necessary breathing and body relaxation methods during childbirth. We also strongly advocate accompanying the mother during childbirth. With the support of lovers and family members, pregnant mothers can bravely face the pain of childbirth.

Prepare fully before childbirth, don't be afraid of natural childbirth

Prenatal check-up and physical preparation

·Do a good job of prenatal examination and correct the abnormal fetal position in time

You don’t have to eat for two and control your weight gain (see weight gain recommendations during pregnancy)

Do more "birth-assisting" exercises to help you have a normal birth (see exercise recommendations and warnings for pregnant women)

Learn Lamaze breathing to relieve labor pain (see Lamaze breathing)

Lamaze breathing method

·Chest breathing: This breathing method can relieve pain when the uterus begins or ends a strong contraction. Take a deep breath through the nose, and start inhaling and exhaling as the uterus contracts, repeating until the pain stops and then resume normal breathing.

· "Hissing" shallow breathing method: When the uterus contracts strongly, use shallow breathing method, and resume deep breathing when the contraction begins to slow down. Practice gradually increasing from 20 seconds until one breath can reach 60 seconds. Take a small breath through the mouth, and the amount of air inhaled and exhaled is equal. Breathe completely through the mouth, and keep the breath high in the throat, like a "hissing" sound.

Panting breathing method: slowly extend the duration of one breath from 45 seconds to 90 seconds. The pregnant mother first exhales the air, takes a deep breath, and exhales quickly 4 to 6 times, feeling like blowing a balloon. The speed can also be adjusted according to the degree of uterine contraction.

Breathing exercise: Each exercise should last for 90 seconds. When labor pains begin, the pregnant mother should take a deep breath, exhale briefly and forcefully, such as 1234, and then exhale all the "air" vigorously, as if blowing something with great effort.

Push hard: Each exercise should last at least 60 seconds. The mother should retract her chin, slightly raise her head, and use force to push the air in her lungs toward her lower abdomen. She should completely relax her pelvic muscles. When she needs to breathe, she should maintain her original position, exhale and inhale quickly, and continue to hold her breath and push until the baby is delivered. When the fetal head has been delivered out of the birth canal, the mother can use short breaths to relieve pain.

· Understand the correct knowledge of childbirth and strengthen the confidence of normal childbirth

Pay attention to the signs of labor and go to the hospital in time to wait for delivery

After completing the prenatal check-up and physical preparation, keeping a cheerful spirit by listening to music, reading, preparing baby clothes, etc. will help to easily "deliver".

While enjoying the joy, pregnant women can seek experience by surfing the Internet, learning from people who have experienced it, communicating with other expectant mothers, etc., so as to prepare themselves for being a "mother".

Not only the baby's condition but also the mother's condition should be assessed to check whether the placenta is completely delivered and intact, whether the birth canal is damaged during delivery, and to prevent postpartum hemorrhage.

Although natural childbirth has many benefits, pregnant mothers should still judge which one is suitable for them based on their own circumstances.
