From April 14th to 17th, the 2021 Chinese Oncology Congress (CCO) was held in Zhengzhou. At the meeting, Zhi Xiuyi, Director of the Science Popularization Department of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association and the first Chairman of the Science Popularization Committee, stated that "two highs and one low" are the key to secondary prevention of lung cancer. Zhi Xiuyi said that nearly 30 years of clinical research and a large amount of evidence-based medical data over the past 20 years have shown that chest CT can effectively detect early lung cancer. Many countries and regions have also used low-dose spiral CT to replace chest X-rays and chest radiography for lung cancer screening. The so-called "two highs and one low" refers to the use of low-dose spiral CT of the chest to "early detect early lung cancer" in areas with a high incidence of lung cancer and in high-risk groups of lung cancer. Early lung cancer can be greatly reduced in mortality through surgical treatment and prolong the five-year and ten-year survival rates of patients. Many people believe that lung cancer is a disease that only smokers get. So, does not smoking mean that you will not get lung cancer? The answer is of course NO. Zhi Xiuyi also gave an answer to who are the high-risk groups for lung cancer, and reminded people with the following high-risk factors to pay attention to lung cancer screening programs and perform early screening for lung cancer through low-dose spiral CT of the chest. 1. Aged 50 or above; 2. Smokers who have smoked for more than 30 years and smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day have a lung cancer incidence rate that is 10 to 20 times that of non-smokers; 3. Have a family history of tumors, especially a family history of lung cancer; 4. History of lung disease, including chronic lung inflammation and chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema; 5. Those who work or live in areas with environmental and occupational pathogenic factors such as petroleum, cement, chemicals, coal or heavy metals for a long time. Data shows that about 77% of cancer patients are diagnosed at the age of 55 or above. During this long process, people have ample time for prevention, intervention and early detection. Therefore, insisting on health check-ups, quitting unhealthy lifestyles, maintaining a happy mood and exercising appropriately are the best ways to stay away from lung cancer. |
